saw the Shelby GT500 on Top Gear Season 19 Episode 3 last night.  one observation by Jeremy is that despite the fact that it is a gas guzzler, it only has a 50-liter tank.  He drove 800+ miles from UK to Italy and had to stop a lot to fill up.  ;D

The GT500 does have a smallish fuel tank, but as expected, Jeremy was exaggerating it.
The GT500's tank is 15.8 US gallons, this is equal to 59.8 liters, not 50 liters.

Asian Originals / 2014 Suzuki SX4 (all-new)
« on: March 06, 2013, 06:06:00 am »

Quote
Suzuki Motor Corporation has unveiled its all-new SX4 Crossover at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show. The new Suzuki SX4 Crossover is a production model based on the S-Cross, which Suzuki showcased at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

Suzuki's designers and engineers began developing the new model as a successor to the current SX4. However, through the pursuit of responding to customer expectations with regard to crossovers in Europe and other parts of the world, they realised that they needed to "think bigger". While moving into the C segment with its increased size, the new model inherits the "SX4" emblem to show that Suzuki (represented by the letter "S") is a pioneer of both crossover and four-wheel drive (indicated by the "X" and "4" respectively).

Suzuki created the new Suzuki SX4 Crossover by uniting its compact car know-how with technologies honed for sport utility vehicles. As a result of focussing on giving the new SX4 Crossover distinctive crossover styling, class leading space for passengers and luggage, next generation 4WD performance and one of the lowest CO2 emissions in the segment, it achieves a remarkable combination of styling, utility, performance and fuel economy. It is a model which can offer great driving enjoyment and versatile family usage for even more people in an even wider range of situations.

Suzuki will be building the new SX4 Crossover at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Hungary and the car will be on sale from this autumn onwards. Magyar Suzuki plays an important role as Suzuki's European production centre. The launch of the new SX4 Crossover marks the start of an expansion programme in which Magyar Suzuki will extend its exports to more countries, increase its production volume, and establish itself as an important manufacturing base for Suzuki's global strategy.

may 4x4 ang 2.2Litres. XL ang variant. XLT ang 4x2. kaso lang hindi nila dinisclose sa website ang difference ng features ng XL at XLT. Gusto ko sana malaman ang kaibahan sa dalawa.
I saw a 4x4 XL in one of the car parks in Greenhills, it had some black exterior trim, 16 inch alloys (instead of the 17's on the XLT), if I recall I think according to Ford Philippines it has 1 airbag (?) and a slightly weaker non-VGT 2.2 liter engine.

Some SAs said there will be a lower priced Wildtrak with a 2.2 liter engine.
This should fill the gap between the 200PS 3.2 liter 4x4 Wildtrak and the 150PS 2.2 liter 4x2 XLT.

Stay tuned for the official announcement.

mahal naman.... sana mababa presyo yung swak sa budget. yan na kunin namin. update naman po dito sa page na to sir kung may official announcement na.

According to some Ford SAs, the 200PS 3.2 liter 4x4 Wildtrak will be priced in the P1.5M+ area and a lower priced 2.2 liter model will also be available (not sure if the 2.2 is a 4x2 or 4x4 since both exist in Thailand).

Price/info will be released closer to its launch.
Price estimate by Top Gear Philippines is P1.6M, but it could be lower.

This video explains the styling of the EcoSport, they also mentioned the sharp portions (edges) on the rounded D-pillars and tail lights which were designed to improve aerodynamics.

Interesting details.

too many sub-segments... confusing.  ;D
Yup, just like cars.  :D
B-segment crossovers are basically crossover SUV equivalents of B-segment cars.

C-segment = Focus (car), 2013 Escape/Kuga (crossover SUV)
B-segment: Fiesta (car), EcoSport (crossover SUV)

The HR-V crossover that Honda sold here over a decade ago was also a B-segment crossover.

will this be in the same segment as the escape (compact suv)?

No, this one is in a smaller segment, it slots below the Escape/Kuga.
The EcoSport is roughly the size of a Kia Soul, but rides a bit higher
It has a 200mm ground clearance and water wading ability of up to 550mm.
One of its more direct rivals is the Sonic-based Chevy Trax.

The Crossover B-segment is also diverse, from tall SUV-looking models to low coupe-like models like the Nissan Juke.

Ice Breaker / Re: Which is better? Two doors or Four doors
« on: September 16, 2012, 10:55:42 pm »
2-door only if it is a 2-seater, nothing else.
Pero di ba pag sinabi mong sedan, automatic 4-door yun. Stand to be corrected.

Classification is not strictly based on the number of doors. The coupe body style is defined by the swoopy shape of the roof, which is why the Mercedes CLS four door and the RX8 are considered coupes. The sedan body-style , likewise, can come in both 2 and 4 door styles. For example, the two door Sentra from the early 90's is considered a two-door sedan by some. As opposed to the Mitsubishi Lancer GSR, which is a coupe.

BMW had problems with these definitions. If I recall right, they had trouble homologating the two door 3-series for a certain race series because it was considered a two-door sedan, when the rules only aklowed coupes.

True, "coupe" came from the French word couper(to cut), regardless of the number of doors, coupes usually have lower (cut down) rooflines than sedans.

The 2013 Ford Fiesta has been officially revealed just hours after the first images of the updated city car appeared online.

The refreshed Fiesta will make its public debut at Ford’s ‘Go Further’ event in Amsterdam, the Netherlands tomorrow alongside the all-new Ford Mondeo and a number of other new vehicles and technologies from the blue oval.

The full range will be revealed at the 2012 Paris motor show later this month before it goes in sale in Australia around the middle of 2013.

The ASEAN market will most likely get it next year too since Australia switched to Thai-made Fiesta and Focus models.

Asian Originals / 2013 Nissan Sentra aka Sylphy

Nissan has made no secret of its plans to dramatically reshape its U.S.-market lineup, with its pronouncement that five new models are on the way in rapid succession over the next year or so. Now it’s the Nissan Sentra’s turn in the makeover chair, as evidenced by the first official teaser photo and video of the new 2013 Nissan Sentra in SR trim. Meanwhile, over in China at the 2012 Beijing auto show, Nissan is busy showing off its new Nissan Sylphy (at right and below), the Asian market version of the coming Sentra.

Following in the tire tracks of the recently revealed, all-new 2013 Pathfinder and 2013 Nissan Altima, the next-generation 2013 Nissan Sentra will be officially revealed later this summer in advance of its rollout to dealerships this fall.

So far, Nissan isn’t saying much of anything about the new 2013 Sentra, but the compact, front-drive sedan will no doubt come equipped with an application of its next-generation Xtronic CVT it has started rolling out to its new models such as the Altima. It remains to be seen if Nissan will continue to offer the available six-speed manual. The present Nissan Sentra is powered by 2.0 and 2.5-liter engines depending on trim level, with the 2.5-liter, 200 horsepower Sentra SE-R Spec V topping the lineup.

Given Nissan’s aggressive push to reduce its emissions and promote its Pure Drive eco badge, the new Sentra could receive a smaller displacement, fuel efficient base engine, perhaps a take on Nissan’s 1.8-liter four (an updated version is debuting in the Sylphy). Nissan could also stick with an optimized 2.0-liter, or possibly offer both. We’d be surprised if the 2.5-liter will continue in the Sentra, but we wouldn’t be to see a hybrid version at some point. We’re also hoping Nissan will keep the performance-themed SE-R models in the lineup, or perhaps a Nismo-branded model, which potentially makes sense given Nissan’s recent plans to expand Nismo’s footprint.

The new 2013 Nissan Sentra also promises to be a step up on the inside, with updates to the cabin materials and the latest in Nissan telematics options and features. If it turns out like what we see so far of the Sylphy, it should be a solid-looking cabin with numerous upscale amenities. We’ll know the full story on the new Sentra soon, and we suspect it won’t be long before we see the next two new Nissan models in the product pipeline.

The Nissan Sylphy at 2012 Beijing auto show is essentially kicking off the all-new global market sedan’s launch. Nissan eventually plans to roll out the Sylphy/Sentra in some 120 countries by 2014.

As previously indicated, the Sylphy on display at Beijing is powered by an updated version of Nissan’s 1.8-liter four mated to a version of the automaker’s next-gen Xtronic CVT. The Sylphy has LED lighting accents front and rear, a strong three bar grille, and an overall shape reminiscent of the new Altima.

The Chinese-market Sylphy will be built at Nissan’s Huadu plant in Guangzhou, China. Nissan is also showing three of its EV future cars it has previously unveiled — the Esflow sports car, Pivo 3 urban runabout, and e-NV200 van — at Beijing.

This new Sentra actually looks more interesting than the new Civic or new Mazda 3.
