Motormouth / Diesel Engine Repair/Checkup recommendations anyone?
« on: November 29, 2011, 08:51:12 pm »
Just read sir Ferman Lao's article regarding the diesel and premium fuels and it made me realize something.

We own a '97 Toyota Revo 1.8 Dsl and we use it as a daily/regular driver. It's almost 150k in total mileage it has done through the years. The last we had it serviced in Toyota Casa was when it hit 100k/110k. I can't quite remember, it was to change the belts and all that jazz you need once hitting 100k.

Ever since then, we only took it to Shell for a change oil every 5k kms or 6 months. So its been about 4-5 years since we replaced the fuel filter. DO'H! We all forgot it.

The car still runs but there is a somewhat noticeable drop in engine performance (esp. in terms of acceleration).  I used to be able to reach 140kph at 5th gear on the skyway when they didn't have speed limits, now it has difficulty or is really strained just holding 100kph.

Anyone can recommend a car service center in Quezon City Area? A reliable one near Q. Ave or Banawe would be nice. =)

Thanks guys!

Motormouth / Fuel Quality
« on: November 13, 2011, 01:32:56 pm »
Hi,

I was just wondering regarding fuels, are all our fuels Euro 2 compliant only, or do we have higher Euro compliant fuels? Can someone cite specifics like say Shell Fuel Save Diesel is Euro # while Shell V-Power Diesel is Euro #.

Reason I am making this post is for awareness. I haven't come across specific articles, statements/posts that indicate better Euro compliance from the "higher" end fuels.

Thanks.

Motormouth / Fiesta 1.6AT acceleration concern
« on: June 23, 2011, 08:55:29 am »
Hi guys,

Was wondering if anyone has experienced an acceleration shudder with the Ford Fiesta 1.6AT?

I have experienced this quite a few times with our car, casa said there is nothing wrong but it is the first and only "shudder" I have experienced with an automatic.

The problem I can see is when it is between first and second gear. It feels like the clutch slips or the transmission doesn't fully engage in the right gear. I know its an automatic but it's the closest I can compare it to.

Me and my dad have experienced the "shudder" on separate occassion and we really have no explanation for it.

It doesn't always happen, but it does and were worried something minute might be wrong that could later on become bigger if left unchecked.

Thanks for your time guys.
