Off-Road and SUVs / Nissan Terrano mods
« on: July 18, 2012, 01:39:22 pm »
Hi guys! This goes out to the off-road aficionados. See, I have a 1997 Nissan Terrano 4x4 and it is bulletproof as hell - going through really high floods, out of town trips that have off-road trails etc... Now, I want to modify it to make it even better at offroading. I'm thinking of power mods (specifically more torque) and suspension. Could you guys suggest mods to be done to the Terrano so that it'll be an even better machine that it is now.

Side note: Since, I use the Terrano as an alternate to the other cars, It would be nice to have a balance between daily driver and very capable offroader.

Thanks in advance guys!  ;D

Industry Gossip / Fiat 500 Abarth
« on: July 13, 2012, 02:43:03 pm »
Hi guys! I was driving along Katipunan avenue when I happen to meet in traffic a blue (light? or semi-dark)  :) Fiat 500 Abarth. I did my customary *beep*beep* with a matching salute when I meet a car that I like and then the owner did the same thing. (Always a good feeling when that happens)  ;D

Anyway, where do you guys think the owner got his Fiat? It's brand new btw. I really, really, really want one and I'll be getting a car this year so the Fiat might be it.  ;D

Car Comparison / Fortuner replacement
« on: June 22, 2012, 07:28:54 pm »
Hey guys, my Fortuner's (diesel) in the shop (casa) because it's EGR needed to be replaced. That'll be 25k Ouch! Usually I'd be fine with the cost as the car is a few years old now, well-maintained. But the casa mechanic told that the EGR is a common problem with Fortuners - usually needing replacement every 2 years. I don't want a car that has a ticking time bomb every 2 years so I'll be selling the Fortuner in favor of a more reliable one. What do you guys suggest? I'm thinking the usual culprits but I need your opinion, especially on reliability.

More notes:
Some of my friends are saying that the EGR problem is common with diesel engines, is this true? Or is it only a Toyota problem? Does the Montero have an EGR (is it reliable if it has one)? Then again I do love my petrol cars because of the response I get. I'm biased towards petrol  ;D But this is a workshorse so a diesel suits my needs more. But if the EGR is a common problem with diesels, I don't mind getting a petrol one.

Your inputs are greatly appreciated.  ;)

Car Comparison / Lightweight Sports cars comparo
« on: June 05, 2012, 08:36:00 pm »
Hey guys! The Toyota GT86 has already been teased a lot so let's have a nice clean discussion regarding lightweight sports cars. Not much power, super light, great handling. (I think this is the best place to post this)  :)

Okay, so here's what I have in mind:

Honda S2000 vs Mazda Miata vs Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ vs Lotus Exige/Elise vs Pontiac Solstice vs Toyota MR2

I may have missed some so feel free to add. But do keep in mind the price point of these cars. So cars like the Cayman, Boxster Spyder, Ariel Atom, Caterham R500 are not included simply because of (1) the  different price point and (2) another class of performance.

Okay, let's start *ding ding ding*  ;D

Motormouth / Supercharger pulley kit upgrade
« on: May 24, 2012, 08:32:03 am »
Hi guys! I've used the search function and so far I can't find a topic about this. So here's my question:
For a car with a mechanical supercharger undergoing a pulley kit upgrade is it necessary to have chip tuning done along with it? I mean if I have the pulley kit upgrade done, is it alright even if I don't tune the chip or add a piggyback computer? Or is it a must to tune the chip if the pulley kit upgrade is done...

Car specs:
SLK230
-supersprint exhaust
-US version

Thanks guys  :)
