Car Comparison / Re: Fortuner vs. montero sport
« on: September 29, 2012, 10:49:32 am »
+1 for the Fortuner votes  ;D The new Fortuner is a big leap compared to the previous model. The Montero edge is no longer there. The new Fortuner VNT engines and revised suspension make the new Fortuner the better choice now. You now have better hp and torque figures and better ride quality.

Yes, you won't go racing with a Fortuner, but having extra power is always welcome. Some situations I have in mind where extra power comes in handy are: (1) overtaking both in provincial roads and the highway. (2) Getting an edge in traffic when you need a certain amount of acceleration in order to avoid getting boxed out between vehicles *ahem, edsa when there buses box out you out on the right, front and back* and (3) I think having extra torque throughout the rev range makes the car more fuel efficient (more torque spread across the powerband means lower rpms needed to meet a certain speed. e.g. 2,000rpm to maintain 100kph vs 3000 to maintain 100kph)

Car Comparison / Re: 86 or honda city 1.8
« on: August 21, 2012, 02:32:47 pm »

« on: August 05, 2012, 06:00:22 pm »
not all naman sir... mostly lang. does it have to do with pinoy culture and  values? kasi may ugali ang pinoy na "pwede na yan " or "ayus na yun". yung parang walang fine tunning. i just cant my fingr on it pero parang ganun.

Yeah, thats right! they dont understand na buhay nila nakataya sa ginagawa nila! again too bad.. with pinoys tele novela thinking ... kawawa yung naka motor bwist yung naka kotse kahit kasalanan nung motor... ???

sir car magic, I remember a college lecture in Philippine Culture and Society that pertains to this. It has something to do with our experience with war. Our "pwede na" (mediocre), lack of discipline, make-shift and ingenius attitude stems from this. These attitudes fit the setting of war perfectly. Make-shift houses, weapons, ideas etc... while combining ingenuity. (e.g. slingshots, fastest way to do things, filipino inventions - a good thing btw) The thing is, we're at peace times. These attitudes no longer fit our country. We have to find a way to integrate these attitudes with newer ones that can sustain a peaceful, evolving Philippines. I guess all we need is more time...hopefully.

Hay!

Disclaimer: I'm not generalizing that all riders are bad road users, it's just that incidents are way too common nowadays which gives the illusion that at least 90% of riders are as such. Truth be told, I too ride (big bike nga lang) so I know proper road decorum when it comes to motorcycles.

So here's my story:
Intersection ng Lanuza - Julia Vargas. Umuulan at naka-full-stop ako kasi red light. Nakita nung MMDA officer na meron kaming argument so lumapit. (btw, by this time green light na so tumabi muna kami) Nagaaregluhan kami pero sabi nung rider bayaran ko daw siya. (keep in mind yung Mazda MX5 dala ko nito). Sabi niya wala daw siyang pangbayad.

Just to affirm what several people have said. Honda is still the most reliable. Sure Toyota has big sales but that doesn't mean it doesn't have it gremlins. (This is coming from someone who has experience with Toyota his whole life; *ehem* pundidong brake light - I see lots of this on the road) Honda on the other hand is great in both performance and reliability. It's engines are world famous for their smoothness and properly engineered characteristics. Let's not forget, the Honda S2000 won the Most reliable engine and car award for 4 consecutive years (from different bodies).

Since all these cars are already available in our market. Here's my suggestion:

Ford Mustang GT vs Camaro V8 v Dodge Challenger SRT

then,

Toyota GT86 vs Mazda Miata

Off-Road and SUVs / Nissan Terrano mods
« on: July 18, 2012, 01:39:22 pm »
Hi guys! This goes out to the off-road aficionados. See, I have a 1997 Nissan Terrano 4x4 and it is bulletproof as hell - going through really high floods, out of town trips that have off-road trails etc... Now, I want to modify it to make it even better at offroading. I'm thinking of power mods (specifically more torque) and suspension. Could you guys suggest mods to be done to the Terrano so that it'll be an even better machine that it is now.

Side note: Since, I use the Terrano as an alternate to the other cars, It would be nice to have a balance between daily driver and very capable offroader.

Thanks in advance guys!  ;D

Chequered Flag / Re: Formula 1 Favorite Driver
« on: July 18, 2012, 12:35:11 pm »
As with everyone. Ayrton Senna is my favorite F1 driver of all time. Schumacher and Hakkinen tied for second. Then for my favorite current F1 driver it's Sebastian Vettel. He's young, talented, down-to-earth, and a really funny guy. What's not to like?  ;D

Thanks sir Troy!

I know I've read somewhere that there's this kind of tint in the market that effectively rejects heat no matter what the shade is. I think it's VKool tint. Can someone please confirm this?  :) If this is the case, then sir i.am.luna all you have decide is the shade that suits your needs based on privacy on preference for visibility at night.  :D

Happy Motoring!

European Elegance / Re: Aventador vs. F12berlinetta
« on: July 14, 2012, 04:08:42 pm »
Considering that the F12 Berlinetta is being developed while the Aventador is already on sale could already make the Ferrari better. Ferrari engineers could have an Aventador benchmarking their new car.  Regarding your question on which is better with regards to top speed, it depends on your "value system". Personally I don't mind the Ferrari being short of the Aventador by a few mph as long as it's significantly better in the acceleration department. As an overall package, the Ferrari could be more dyanamic to drive (see: comments on Aventador driving like a big Audi *rimshot*; driving dyanamics of Ferrari 458 vs. McLaren MP4-12C; passion vs clinical engineering).

If you ask me then, I'd go for the Ferrari. But then again, this is all based on my personal knowledge and sheer speculation. On a side note, given a chance to have the Lamborghini or the Ferrari, I'd take any and not complain. I mean, cmon they are both great cars.  ;D

Yup. Mas maganda yung tunog nung Civic. Racing Medallion kasi yung muffler na nakakabit. Chambered yung exhaust niya last year. Tapos ginawa pa niyang free-flow yung exhaust system niya a few months ago - lalong sinisiw yung MX5 ko hahah  ;D
