American Muscle / 2013 Ford Fiesta facelift *spy photos*

The current Ford Fiesta has now been on the market since 2008 meaning it is due a mid-cycle facelift pretty soon. If the American car maker has been testing the model before now, they have managed to keep it pretty well hidden as these appear to be the first shots that have been caught of a prototype.

The clear to see rear end will sport a design virtually identical to the original model, however those thick black panels on the other end reveal the front fascia is due to be redesigned. The styling is a bit too difficult to accurately make out but a similar layout to the new Mondeo / Fusion would certainly fit well and a similar shaped grille was displayed last year in the form of the Fiesta ST Concept. One further detail that is revealed from these new spy shots is the line of LEDs we see poking out across the bottom of the headlights.

The prototype caught here should not be confused with the Fiesta ST that the brand currently has under development, read on and you will know this is definitely not the high performance version.

Our spy photographer has also managed to catch a shot of the log book which clearly displays the engine type as 1.0 GDI. This confirms that Ford will be introducing their EcoBoost technology to the Fiesta line-up. This particular prototype is housing a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 80 hp ( 59 kW / 81 PS ), it was developed in the UK and is due to begin production in April.

Expect to see the world debut of the new facelifted 2012/2013 Ford Fiesta at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

I'm guessing it will be a milder version of the Fiesta ST Concept, probably with a hint of 2013 Fusion/Mondeo

if ever FGP brings in this car, they will use the mondeo name because they market their cars here as euro-inspired which is true like in the case of the current focus
If it will be sold here it will be called Mondeo because that is the global name for their mid-size D-segment car.
It will retain the Fusion name in America because Fusion has already been established there in the mid-size segment.

I believe the only models that will be badged as "Fusion" are the ones that will be manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo, Mexico plant & Flat Rock Michigan plant.

hope they bring it to the Philippines. The mondeo is a really good car

I think there is a possibility that they might assemble this in Thailand for the ASEAN market in the future.
I read in an article before that Ford was considering it. Hope it becomes a reality.

2012 Porsche Boxster snapped totally undisguised

Quote
Our crafty spy photographer have managed to set lenses upon a completely undisguised 2012 Porsche Boxster S out and about in the light of day. With all of the vehicle's camouflage removed, we can clearly see the body lines of the new convertible. Though the familiar Porsche face hasn't gone anywhere, the side of the vehicle now wears a dramatic side strake and sizable air inlet positioned just forward of a set of equally bold wheel arches. Those openings are filled with massive, multi-spoke rollers. Toward the rear of the vehicle, we can clearly see a new integrated lip spoiler that spans across the entirety of the car's rump, bisecting the taillamps.

That's exciting and all, but our spies also indicate that this model may boast a next-generation 2.5-liter flat four-cylinder. If those whispers are to be believed, the 2012 Boxster could pack as much as 360 horsepower courtesy of a little forced induction. Word is the vehicle will receive a proper introduction on the show circuit in the next few months.

I like the new Boxster's Carrera GT-inspired side intakes. :D

The next performance

The 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show provides an important preview of what could be the next performance vehicle in the Ford Performance Vehicles product pipeline - the Ford Fiesta ST Concept.

Muscular and sporty, the Ford Fiesta ST Concept is inspired by the Ford Fiesta WRC. It features a dynamic sports chassis and a high-performance powertrain with a 1.6-liter Ford EcoBoost® engine, yet is capable of delivering impressive fuel economy.

Target performance levels for the Ford Fiesta ST Concept are 177 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. of torque, enough to propel it from 0-60 mph in less than seven seconds. A top speed exceeding 136 mph is targeted.

The advanced design of the turbocharged, four-cylinder Ford EcoBoost engine - connected to a six-speed manual transmission - means the Ford Fiesta ST Concept is forecast to deliver CO2 emissions of less than 140 g/km.

A global Ford Fiesta ST would also extend the proud, 35-year history of delivering high-performance Fiestas in Europe, including the Fiesta XR2 and XR2i, RS Turbo and the more recent first-generation Ford Fiesta ST.

"With the Focus ST and the Fiesta ST, enthusiasts will immediately understand what a Ford ST model promises and what each model shares in terms of balanced performance feel, style and driver features," Capito said. "We've developed both vehicles from the same DNA. They are born performers that know how to make drivers smile."

If you're wondering about the future of the XK, this isn't it. No, what Jaguar is set to reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week is far more ambitious. This is Jag's Porsche Cayman-fighting two-seater – a Jaguar coupe you can actually afford.

Powered by a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 putting out 376 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, the C-X16 concept takes Jaguar's great heritage of supercharging into the next century with the addition of a "Push to Pass" hybrid system controlled through a steering wheel-mounted button.

An electric motor is integrated into the eight-speed gearbox, delivering an additional 92 hp and 173 lb-ft of twist when the button is pressed. The resulting performance numbers – 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and a 186 mph top speed – are almost as impressive as the 165 g/km C02 emissions and the C-X16's ability to travel up to 50 mph on electric power alone.

Juice is provided by a 1.6kWh battery pack mounted behind the rear seats, helping to contribute to the 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution. And if you're wondering, we understand the engine compartment could fit a V8, assuming Jaguar wants to move it up the price scale.

As for the styling, it's as good as anything from Ian Callum, Jag's Director of Design, but we'd be remiss not to say that it looks a little dated. Gorgeous, no doubt, but in the same way the XK is a stunner, but fails to quicken our pulse when we see one on the road.
