My suggestion is to join a car club first. They have real first hand experience with what your planning to do. Not that I'm downgrading this forum but a knowledge source specific to your needs is a lot better.

P.S. Car clubs are the best source for pre-loved items hehe.

Buy & Sell / Re: ideal car for beginners

Dad's, Mom's, Sister's or Brother's car is the ideal beginner car. After graduating, get a 2nd hand car. Preferably one that's near it's end of life para maraming matututunan habang inaayos siya  ;D

Okay 'to. Yung kanila muna sirain mo bago yung sayo. LOL

Haha, di naman po sa makakatipid. More ito ang recommendation ko kasi you have someone aside from yourself checking and maintaining the car. Sa simula kasi dapat matutunan agad yung checking ng fluids and tire pressure, the importance of periodic maintenance, registration, etc. Pero side effect nga na may karamay sa budget hahaha...

Pimp your Ride / Re: Whats the best way to remove windshield stickers?

I used isopropyl alchohol. Lagay lang sa basahan. Pinatong ko ang basang basahan sa ibabaw ng sticker for a minute, then peeled it off.

First thing is to join a CRV related club so that you can better picture and source your mods.
But assuming we're on an unlimited budget...

  - wrap around body kit
  - repaint (show car finish)
  - projector headlamps
  - coilovers
  - air intake, headers, piggyback and exhaust
  - 2 din DVD head unit + sound system upgrade
  - Seat upgrade (or seat cover upgrade)
  - upholstery upgrade (color schemed)
  - interior LED lights

Haha, wala na akong maisip  ;D

Join a club, you'll benefit a lot from their knowledge and experience.

Off-Road and SUVs / Re: Is the Honda CRV a car for ladies?
« on: January 03, 2012, 11:15:27 am »
The new CRV does give out some feminine vibes. Puro kasi curves.  ;D
Anyway, if your hauling stuff it should be a no brainer (get the hilux) but if it's a family vehicle, get a mid-size SUV (ayaw ko pa rin ng CRV hehe, my vote is sorento)  ;D

Agree. Taxi driver's always expect a "tip". Di nila naiisip na wala ding pera ang pasahero nila at gusto lang makauwi...

The only thing that irritates me more is a taxi driver na umaayaw sa pasahero.
Frustrating a-holes.  >:(

:-[ I understand the feeling... I have a condo neighbor that owns one and his parking is 3 cars away from mine. At least I got the chance to look at it closely. For me personally, I don't think it has a design that will go down the annals of history as a measurement of beauty. But at this specific point in time, it really is stunner.

Do you think that there is any strong benefit to getting the GTA over the GLX?

Looks: GTA has the ralliart body kit. I don't know of any body kit vendors that offer this now. Lahat Evo body kit. Also, I like the bigger rims.
  Performance: already mentioned
  Sounds: Rockford Fosgate with subwoofer
Creature comforts: rain sensor, projector HID headlights
Safety: 7 airbags for the GTA

For me, it's the better overall package (the price difference is justified by the upgrades). That's why I got the GTA. But if your planning to modify it as soon as you get it, get the GLX.

Also, is there any idea how much i need to make the car like the link i posted?

What I see in the pic:

Color - only the GTA variant has a blue color or you can have your car repainted (madami naman diyan)
Evo X wide body kit - try Atoy's, Clifford or Starbright. You can also try the smaller players.
Headlights - GLX does not have projector headlamps
Fog lights - even the GTA does not have projector for lamps
Rims - not familar with what is on the car

*Eto very important hehe: Turbo intercooler (EMS) -> if you're putting on an Evo X bumper, without a turbo, this space would be blank. Medyo obvious....  ::)

Where can I buy the body kits, and what about interior?

There are a lot of Lancer Body Kit shops (try sulit). For carbon fiber, try ZWorks.

and am I right in assuming that the cars are identical in terms of performance?

More or less. GT and GTA have some suspension upgrades to fit the 18" wheels. This was undocumented but once you try slapping on 18" inchers on the GLS, GLX or MX, you're gonna feel a wiggle when running 120kph upwards. Other differences that affect performance are the strut bars, wheel size/weight, tires paddle shifts. I noted these as all of them affect performance one way or another...

and what about the 2011/12 lineup? will they have a manual variant with a decent body to begin with?

Haven't heard of any upgrade plans yet...

Upgrading the intake is a pretty decent, first upgrade. You get some gains and the technical aspects are minimal. Try getting the better known brands. These have published figures on the possible gain in HP and you need not dyno to verify if your upgrade really is an upgrade.

Other stuff that you may want to consider is to upgrade in parallel to your maintenance.
Example:
  1. When you need to change tires, get tires that have better grip
  2. When you need to change oil, go synthetic with better lubrication
  3. When you fill up on gas, try to determine which gasoline gives you the most mileage

Just remember that the best upgrade is to upgrade your skills. Read forums and watch videos on how to properly drive your car (example. Do you know if your shifting at the right RPM?). Modified driver beats modified car anyday  ;)
