Good thing I didn't bet money on Lewis Hamilton winning the Driver's Championship... ::)

Lewis Hamilton losing the F1 Championship was the last of three massive blows to English sports.

First it was the overrated England football team losing to Russia 2-1 in the qualifying rounds of European Championship. That loss was the final nail to English football team's coffin as they pray and hope that Israel defeat Russia, and England to beat Croatia in Wembley. No hope by the looks of it.

Second was the rag-tag team of elderly English rugby team losing in the finals of Rugby World Cup in Paris to the refreshing and strong South African team backed by Nelson Mandela. Nothing to be ashamed of as they were definite underdogs to defend their crown at the start of the World Cup, but it was worse to think that they could have re-written Rugby history only to fail by 6 points.

England was mourning to all these defeats, and Hamilton's performance in the Brazilian Grand Prix was the last straw - the once Great Britain with its proud Union Jack flag flying high was reduced to humiliating consecutive defeats in the sports they pioneered and once dominated.

It's like having Manny Pacquiao losing by TKO in the first round by a Mexican nobody in a Las Vegas megafight, or Bata Reyes and Django Bustamante pulvurized by an unknown pimple-faced Chinese wannabe, and Philippine Basketball Team losing by a massive margin of 30 points to a faceless team from Myanmar in Asian Games.

It really hurts that way, man.

yup... aside from having a bulls-eye on the rear of his ferrrari, alonso is also out of mclaren (team focussed solely on lewis)... not to mention massa is as competitive as ever... it'll be a difficult but defining season for kimi (especially if he wins again...)... :)

OT: would anyone know where alonso is headed? renault? toyota?

not really... bumped out and he left din (not really sure though... let's wait for other F1 gurus to shed more light...  ;) )
during the season, alonso felt he wasn't treated right in mclaren (british team supporting the british driver, etc) plus he was the one who cost mclaren the $100M fine and all their constructor's points...
so you could say that they mutually didn't like each other! ;D

in fairness (damn! hate using that line)... alonso's good din naman! nasa team na lang talaga... BMW and williams are contenders na din but doubtful if they'll sign him in...

Hold your breath, guys. This just came in.

Alonso is in talks with Renault Team, and there is a 75% chance that he will be driving again in Blue and Yellow next season.

Watch this space... :o

Yeah, that's true, Alonso is reportedly parting with McLaren. He's unhappy there because of teammate rivalry (Alonso vs. Lewis). The situation just pushed Alonso away from McLaren next year... and going back to renault.

Indeed, Kimi was very lucky, imagine both Merc driver with the same point tally, and Kimi ahead of only one point from both... enough to secure him the Championship title.

Toyota getting the service of Timo Glock, hope he could raise the bar of Toyota this time. With new engine and chassis for 2008. Hopes are getting higher. Driving toyota with Trulli is a challenge but he promises only the best.

What's about the fuzz that Michael Schumacher, yeah you read this right, is testing again on Ferrari F2008 F1 cars? Is there a possibility of coming back to action? He's still capable of doing it... why not!
