Mga bosing, let it stay this way ----
intriga-level lang tayo huwag away-away level hehe ;D

Lahat naman ng mga pickups or utilities (UTE) sa market ngayon panalo. It just all boils down to individual preference, and which brand you put your trust on.
To start it off, i am driving all these pickups in subject (except the Volkswagen Amarok) in paved and off-roads given by the nature of my job, which is minerals exploration.... Yes, i am also at times assigned in Europe, other than here in south east Asia and Australasian regions. i'm not bragging, just happened to be lucky (only with respect to driving pickups ;D), so kindly don't get me wrong when i say the truth about the nature of my job, gentlemen....

Now, i don't want to be anecdotal about my own experience on each of them, but rather let's hear it from the jury of the recent 2010 International Pickup Truck of the Year Award held in Ireland.

Which do you think won the 2010 International Pickup Truck of the Year Award?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InL1k5IQtCE

Based on the video above, which do you think has the best approach angle and departure angle? Hehe ;)

All 4x4 diesel CRDi with variable geometry turbochargers (VGT) and/or bi-turbochargers

1. 3-litre Ford Ranger, VGT - 156 metric-hp, 380 Nm torque

2. 3-litre Toyota Hilux , VGT - 163 metric-hp, 343 Nm torque

3. 3-litre Mazda BT-50, VGT - 156 metric-hp, 380 Nm torque

4. 2.5-litre Nissan Navara, VGT - 174 metric-hp, 403 Nm torque

5. 3-litre Isuzu DMax, VGT - 164 metric-hp, 360 Nm torque

6. 2.5-litre Mitsubishi Triton, VGT - 178 metric-hp, 350 Nm torque

7. 2-litre Volkswagen Amarok, bi-turbocharger - 163 metric-hp, 400 Nm torque

Jury findings

1. Ford Ranger - Touted for its durability and responsive engine.

2. Toyota Hilux - Lagging behind all the other models.

3. Mazda BT-50 - Identical to the Ford Ranger for they share the same engine platform and just about everything.

4. Nissan Navara - Won highly in terms of styling points and interior design and comfort, but it lost some points in ground clearance during the deep off-road tests.

5. Isuzu DMax - May not be the best looking, but it was surely one of the best performing and what jury members called "very very impressive" in terms hardcore off-roading.

6. Mitsubishi Triton - Most powerful pickup in the competition at 175 bhp, and its overall off-road driving comfort was very good.

7. Volkswagen Amarok - The pickup that testers were all eager to drive. Eventual winner of the shootout, praised it for its well-appointed and spacious cabin. Despite the Amarok’s victory, jury members said its overall off-road performance needs to improve to be a stand-out among the competition.

Now, given the jury above, it makes you really wonder why the Amarok won haha!  ;D
....But one thing is sure, because of a newer technology ---- the bi-turbocharger that goes with it inspite of that diminutive 2-litre engine, it delivers 400 Nm of peak torque from as low as 1500 rpm up, unlike all the others that deliver theirs from 1800 rpm (except the Hilux at 1400 rpm).

The Amarok, however, won't be sold in the Philippines.... Sorry to all of us haha! :D

Good day.

This is, on the other hand, what the Australians (Aussies) had to say about their own UTE or pickup of the Year for 2009 and 2010:
