the city & light trails, don't get a mountain bike. Get a hybrid or performance hybrid.

There aren't any best brands. The best bicycle is the one that you choose for yourself after comparing several.  :)

Good brand for mountain bikes? I should suggest for KTM. I've saw those in a store namely "Moto World". It's a store for motorcycling and bicycling goods. Unfortunately, I don't know where are their exact branches in the Metro. They are priced P30,000 for the basic model (orange in color) then the high-enders costs about P48,000.

most mechanical and hydraulic implements wherever made will not just break after 3 days....

maybe you can do some checking and do a fix it 101

trigger ( lever) medium ( cable or hydraulic hose) and receiver ( mechanical clamp or hydraulic clamp) whether disc with rotor or the type that puts a squeeze on your rims

- check the lever if it still activates movement onto whatever brakes you have
- check the mechanical tension or the hydraulic pressure to match your needs by adjustment or bleeding
- check pad wear if unusually quick or not

i am assuming you do not do downhill or freeride both of which make heavy demands on your brakes

do a little 101 first to learn about brake technicalities before going out to buy a new one

cheers

Me too, I'm also planning to buy a mountain bike. What brand could you suggest for me? My budget is less than a hundred thousand. Are Dahon foldable bikes are OK? Isn't it dangerous to drive? Thanks!

@ carwiki if you intend to do cross country a dahom foldable bike won't be a good idea... i suggest to go for mongoose mountain bike or better yet go for GIANT brand. purchase the entry level and you wont go amiss

Chevrolet Trailblazer 2.5 duramax
