Car Gender Survey
« on: March 27, 2012, 02:00:26 am »
cars always have this feminine or masculine projection to us (or most of us)...
so which cars do you think are for the boys and which are simply girlish on your taste?
(no offense sa mga owners, just for fun lang)

The Nissan Navara is purely masculine even if you paint it pink, the Celerio is girly in any angle you look at it... but come to think of it, almost all vehicles nowadays have masculine features since everyone likes the "aggressive" look -- even the ladys like 'em.  8)

jaejae welcome back. as to your new topic i stand fir
regarding the non-gender status of all vehicles. however it may partially be true that some may find a car design(or segment) may be more appropriate for guys while sime maybe "gal-ish". at anyrate welcome back po.

hello goodbye sir mindkinetic!  ;D naka tambay lang ako sandali dito sa topgear forum dahil work nanaman, but bukas uuwi nanaman ako,  :P kaya di naman maka tambay dito for a while...

yeah, i believe to some walang gender projection ang mga cars, to some (including me) meron sa paningin ko na parang pambabae and meron din na more suited sa mga lalake...

strong example are the compact hatchbacks, sa paningin ko they're more girlish than masculine...
macho cars naman mga Pick ups and SUVs, the CUV's naman pwede ladies or gents....

pero sa akin lang yun, ewan ko sa inyo....   ;D

Hmm.. well for me, I think I have a preconceived notion than some Toyota models are actually gender neutral.

Take for example the Vios and Innova and I guess the Avanza. I can't put them as masculine or feminine in terms of design so I would say they are neutral. I wouldn't know if this was based on their utilitarian purpose but I sometimes wonder because the City somewhat emanates masculinity while the Jazz emanates a femininity for me (eventhough it had that "Jetfighter" profile to it or whatever that was previously called).

The Altis slightly borders on neutrality for me as well,  unlike its competition Civic (feminine) and Lancer (masculine).

For Korean makes, I would have to say Hyundai is the more effeminate one while Kia is the more masculine one. If you pit the vans side by side, you have Carinval, Starex and Hiace. Hiace is neutral, Starex is more feminine while the Carnival is a little bit masculine.

That's just me. =)

For me,

The Navara, Montero Sport and the Fortuner are the masculine for me in terms of capabilities, because it can do more off-road capabilities than the crossovers e.g. Tucson, ASX. But the crossovers I mentioned are good for rough terrain, rocks and shallow wading capability. But, the MS, Navara and the Fortuner are better. Also for rough terrain, rocks but, it can go to the 800mm water.

The feminine "gender" of cars for me is, Vios, Rio and Celerio in terms of capabilities also. These are ideal for city driving, going "out-of-towns" and far provinces. That's why these cars look "feminine" to me because it is ideal for ladies.

The City looks feminine to me. Whether a car is feminine or masculine, I think it's really in the eyes of the beholder.  :)

Large SUVs should be more masculine. This will appeal to the masses because of its aggressive and strong look. Sedans will be much more fine to have feminine outlook  since luxury is always attached to women.
