Supercharger pulley kit upgrade
(1/1)
neotech93:
Hi guys! I've used the search function and so far I can't find a topic about this. So here's my question:
For a car with a mechanical supercharger undergoing a pulley kit upgrade is it necessary to have chip tuning done along with it? I mean if I have the pulley kit upgrade done, is it alright even if I don't tune the chip or add a piggyback computer? Or is it a must to tune the chip if the pulley kit upgrade is done...
Car specs:
SLK230
-supersprint exhaust
-US version
Thanks guys :)

Since the pulley kit provides only a minimal horsepower gain, and is geared mainly towards increasing the efficiency with which the supercharger draws power from the engine and consequently creates power, the short answer would be no, a retune is not necessary, how it is recommended if you want to gain a bit more power and optimize your engine performance.

Thanks for the answer sir. But then this certain idea still bugs me. Won't adding the pulley kit necessitate more fuel be used. Will the stock ECU be able to "program"/detect the upgrade such that it knows how much fuel to use? I was just thinking that the stock ECU might still be putting the same amount of fuel before the upgrade. The engine therefore having insufficient fuel... ???
(btw, I'm taking my time with this upgrade and I have no time to pass by the tuning shop 'cuz I can't find enough time) :|
