don;t have a problem with my strada  on & off the road with 4 years of driving at 145,000+ kms. hauling stuff for the farm.
the downside is very sensitive to fuel.

For me, I'll recommend the Ranger. Due to its bulkiness in its size, its more spacious than the Strada, and it can "ford" floods at 800mm.  ;D

@ride-on, yes the strada can handle the abuse but it is marketed as a lifestyle truck compared to a work truck like the ranger however the new ranger looks like it is catering the lifestyle side of the pick up truck market

The best utility pickup is the one that you really make out of it....

But first, what your heart really prefers should take precedence over what people you're asking for opinions about has to say....
....i went all the way with the Isuzu Dmax at the time i was planning on a pickup, because that's the utility truck i like, and less of the cerebral reasoning. It's not a standout pickup but it does everything right, especially on the fuel efficiency side. It was also the cheapest 3.0-litre commonrail diesel that time. And then i bumped a bit the power and torque with a RaceChip Pro diesel EFi kit (PhP24,000) and changed the rear shocks with Bilstein.

Between the two (2) though, i might go for the new Ranger, especially if it's the 3.2-litre straight 5-cylinder which hasn't arrived yet though in Philippines.

I would prefer the Ford Ranger, spec wise, especially the 3.2 liter version, it leads from the other Ute trucks in the market, to name a few, Hill descent control, Hill assist, 800mm water wading, 200ps/470Nm of torque (150PS/375NM for 2.2 liter engine), Traction control and Rear Locking Diff, (The prob with Traction control and Limited slip diff only which is standard on other trucks and Ranger is the fact that it can't handle serious off-roading), 3350kg towing capacity, 1000kg payload, Trailer sway assist, Rollover Mitigation, Driver and front passenger, side curtain and side seat airbags standard on XLT models among others.  :) ;)

Mas maganda sir Jake ang fuel consumption ko even for city-driving. i'm currently at zero (0)-C setting, which is considered relatively low-and-mid combination setting sa Racechip Pro. i am using Shell V-Power diesel; i just find it frugal than the fuel i used before, which is Petron Turbo Diesel.

As far as power setting goes (just in case you have more questions), the zero there is my power-increment (which means the power is raised 1.5% more than the preceding dial-setting), while the C setting is my power distribution along the rev-range, or otherwise, how long will that increased in power stays on, or how long will it be distributed along the powerband. The maximum combination setting in the Racechip Pro is 7-7

Any diesel CRDi pickup, not just the D-max, will benefit from the Racechip Pro diesel EFi chip in terms of improved fuel economy aside from the added power and torque gained.

Cheers! Have a great day.
