Coolest car? If I would have to choose between the 4 things that makes a car cool, I would go first with Styling... Just like when you meet someone for the first time, you wouldn't really know how he/she talks, walk, eat, sleep, etc. But you can see him/her and there would be that initial attraction/spark that makes you say... "hmmm.. he/she looks nice, I'd like to know him/her." although you are really not sure if he/she is really nice. Same with cars... You take your first look at the 8th gen Civic when it was released and you say, "That is such an awesome out-of-this world car.. What is it? What is the top speed, etc. Can I take it for a test drive?" And you see the Toyota A-Bat and you say.. "Ano yan? Genetically engineered ba na truck yan?" Styling is the reason why the Civic EG hatch refuses to depreciate, and few people wanted to sell theirs with the reason of getting tired of it.
The better looking the car is, the more it will sell and stay.
Exclusivity? Nah, I can't say exclusive cars are cool. For the proud and haughty maybe, who would say... "HA!HA! I got this car, and you don't! I'm cooler than you..!" I'd rather have the most common Corolla or Civic, and have fun joining car clubs, GTs, GEBs, Fun Runs, together with the people who has the same car as me, and eventually meet friends and socialize. One can have one of the 800 limited edition Vios XX but will still be joining the same people who drives a regular edition of the Vios. (Dinz, peace tayo... POV ko lang..hehe!)
Heritage... I've never really known cars before I started working. So what's cool for me is what we have now whether it comes with a good history or not. Who cares if they have blue blood running through their veins? What matters for me is if it makes your heart skip a beat everytime you see it now.
Performance makes a car cool if you are in the F1, where everybody follows your every move, and even your tire pressure is being monitored from time to time and split seconds count. But here, you wouldn't drive something that you think is crap even if it will take you 14 mins to travel the whole SLEX, would you? Hell, you wouldn't even want to look at it! How would you impress someone if all they can see is your exhaust fumes? A Chery QQ, even if fitted with the jazz's engine and all upgrades available to boost performance, wouldn't even be nearly as cool as the stock Jazz. And I think you would know why.
