Hi Ed. Need your staffs' advice/s

Hi everybody. My family owns a 1992 Toyota Lite Ace. As you well know, it's underpowered. Now that it is more than a decade old, its power isn't enough to haul my family to Baguio. We don't even bring it Pangasinan anymore. It's heavy, it's underpowered and it drinks a lot of gas. I am now planning of upgrading its engine. I'm planing to bring it up from 1.5L to either 1.8L or 2.0L. I am particularly interested in increasing its torque. Knowing that the engine, van, can hit 160 or 180Kph is enough. Can you help me with this? Is an engine swap better than having it rebored? If I swap the engine, what type can I use?
