Didint have the chance to test-drive both. But by looks, I think that Montero is better looking than the current-gen Fortuner. But if the face-lifted Fortuner arrives, maybe it will be better-looking.

And Fortuner wins on the practicality department. Though ageing, still a great design to behold. Get the very frugal diesel version of Fortuner and you can bully any other SUVs on the road without hurting your budget.
Montero is only practical if you're a Mitsu fan. Nobody will argue with you.

I think the fortuner is better.. But the montero does look a bit better than the current fortuner..

I've driven the fortunner, it has a really bumpy ride compared to the other SUVs in Toyota's fleet...I haven't driven the montero sport though so not sure if the ride is better versus the fortunner.

I have driven the fortuner 2007 for 300 km, test driven the ford everest and the montero when I was looking for a midsize SUV to buy. Now I own a 2009 montero sport 2.5l due to its superior driving comfort, nimble handling, high ground clearance (rocky mountain off-road travel), spacious and variable luggage space. The right combination for a 900km round trip to the mountainous province of Abra to Manila and back. Less fatigue for a very long distance travel. Fuel consumption is not bad either @ 10+ km/liter at 140 km/hr speed at nlex & sctex (not yet caught.. hehehe).

the looks depend on one's preference so it's up to you w/c one looks better...

if you value comfort,space and plenty o' features and wants a sporty ride go for the montero sport

if you want classier interior, presence and prefer something cheaper to maintain the fortuner fits you better

The Fortuner is now available in 4X2 2.5 D-4D M/T variant...Its cheap at only 1.350M Pesos but the catch is that walang leather seats at trims ang variant na to..Its like Innova G.   Still kung porma lang ang habol nyo eh eto na ang kunin nyo! Mura lang!!

Oh well the Montero Sport 3.2 4X4 Ukraine was great!!
