given a choice between the two, i'd pick the alto...though your friend should try considering buying a second hand car instead. For 350k, she can find a decent and much more reliable civic or corolla than a brand new alto or QQ

Hello,
I'm a newbie and a happy ALTO-owner.  I've also considered QQ before but after seeing a 1-year old QQ in Chery Buendia showroom, I was discouraged in buying one considering the car was only in the showroom and not even a test drive unit.

I was once a Revo owner but I sold it and changed to ALTO due to rising fuel costs.  My Revo before was 10Km/L but DOE record for ALTO is 34Km/L.

Things I like with ALTO is the very cool aircon, easy to manuever in tight spaces (whether parking or in city traffic), can easily overtake in city traffic due to small in size and almost everything is reachable from the driver's seat.  Its small size is advantage in overtaking (of course I do it safely) and makes travel time shorter and more time at home or at your destination.

I hope the above can help your friend in deciding which to buy.  Good day.

I would choose neither as well...

You see the Alto is a polite car, but i still have doubts of Suzuki's service and it's too cramped...

The QQ is a cute little car, but the quality is not really good...

I would agree with GhostHunter's advice to expand your budget by getting a Picanto or a Getz...or cryss' advice to just buy a 2nd hand Vios/Jazz...The price is very similar to a Picanto...
I'm a heavy smoker (of tires)...

Ironically, my friend bought a second-hand matic Honda Accord at P260K-- a far cry from her earlier choices.  Haaay.. women.

if i had P350K, I'd get a 2002 - 04 toyota corolla or honda civic. but if the choice is between cherry qq and suzuki alto, i'd go for the alto.

Good luck with the maintenance costs related to a car of the Accord's level.  Prices tend to cost twice more compared to parts for the Civic or equivalent level car.

That means buying a used 1998 Civic and a 1998 Accord might cost the same (or close enough) but maintenance costs will still be much higher for the Acccord as well as fuel consumption of a heavier car with a bigger engine.

Hmm. heard alot of bad rep from the QQ (considering the cred it already had in the first place). A family friend had her car fixed at the dealer, sure it had a 5 year warranty but the mechanics said that they had to wait for parts shipment from China, she waited for 3 months before the thingamajjig could be fixed. damn. I dont know damn.
