Chinese car invasion2....Great wall motors
maranello_5775:
Great wall motors...
1. Florid hatchback(scion xa copy?)
2.Cowry minivan/mpv(nissan serena copy?)
3.Hover SUV/CUV
4. Wingle Pick-up(D-max copy?)
seems chinese were busy copying other carmaker's designs...If I'm not mistaken it,only the Hover SUV has the unique design.
last MIAS(2009) this carmaker(greatwall) attracted a good number of people in their show booth and test drive booth so maybe it is a positive sign that they will have a good start in our market, though according to the sales rep the launching of their vehicles were probably by June this year.I just hope that their vehicles were reliable...

you're right. another chinese company is trying their luck in our shores. look at the florid. it's a yaris-nosed car. and that pick-up gives a solid chinese representation of a d-max. it is very obvious that some chinese manufacturers are copying, or in their terms 'inspired' by european designs, even japanese ones.these cars would probably be targeted at the not-so-rich people looking for cars to carry them around. let's just hope the stigma of chinese products aren't in their cars. let's just hope that the chinese make something reliable.

Actually, I rather like the way the Chinese style their cars. By improving the looks of a not-so-late model Japanese car, they can lure the lower to middle class buyers who would like a Japanese vehicle but couldn't afford the price. The Cowry looks good to me. The rear of the Hover looks kinda weird, they should have just done away with the upper par of the lamp cluster, though I do see some cues from the Fortuner up front. I really like te interior design of thei vehicles though they are sure to be plasticky. Now if they could put in some decent (perhaps turbocharged or better yet, commonrail) diesel engines in those hoods and perhaps provide A/T for all of their products, it would b a good start. ;)

the hover and wingle are available in crdi diesels...

With this, I think we should keep our mind open. Chinese cars might offer good cars for less. Having more players is good. Consumers have more choices to pick. By the way, I hope that we get more Euro players here in our shores. We have been missing a lot of good rides aside from the German & British ones.
