C,3 or A4?
« on: July 02, 2011, 07:15:44 am »
This started out as a debate between me and dad
Every year, these German junior executives slug it out in the world's sales charts. If you had the choice between the three, which would you go for? A C-Class, a 3 Series or an A4?

the audi a4 for me-not too flashy and the roomiest among the three

it feels as luxurious as the benz inside and the performance is at par with the bimmer

I second maranello. The A4 also has a diesel variant, looks good on paper.

Well, BMW has the 320d but it's 400K pricier than the A4 2.0 TDI. The 320d does have 20 more horses than the A4 but is 20 horses worth 400K more? Mind you, I love all three of them and they all present really strong cases :D

So Far:
A4 : 1
3-series : 0
C Class : 0

I drove an E90 318i before. I took the Eastwood tunnel corner at around 105 a reasonable pace. I had the Dynamic Traction Control off too! It's slow on straights but makes up for it in the corners. Am I voting for the 3 Series though? Maybe. The Benz just oozes in class though and the Audi has unbelievable value for money (relatively speaking)

AUDI A4 Though reviewers are quick to note that the A4’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is no match for more powerful upscale midsize cars, the 2012 Audi A4 has a lot going for it. Fuel economy remains stellar, and with the exception of hybrids like the Chevrolet Volt and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, the 2012 Audi A4 is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the class.

The Audi A4 is much more practical especially when fuel prices are up. Don't know how it drives though, but being a front wheel drive I'm guessing it wont be as much fun and thrilling to drive as the BMW or the Mercedes - both being rear wheel drive cars.

It really depends on how you want to drive or your driving personality. If you're a driver concerned about fuel consumption and likes to drive easy without over speeding, the Audi A4 is the best. If you like driving easy and at times with plenty of speed and thrill then the BMW or Mercedes will do.

I'm more of an Audi fan than the other two because of its practicality and I think you can still drive it at heart attack speeds.

C-class for me for comfort, fuel prices is not an issue to me if I can afford these babies. For now, it's just a dream.

currently the new F30 bmw 3 series blows all its competitors away, interior quality is beautiful, fuel economy is significantly higher than the outgoing e90 model, and the new bmw range of diesel engines are some of the best in the world. Also you can be sure it'll be more reliable than a merc, and cheaper to run than an audi.

Oh I heard that Mercs have a lot of problems electrically speaking. Like there are electronic controls in Mercs that one day work, the next day fails on you. Is this true? I heard this through Jeremy Clarkson who, as I recall, reviewed a Mercedes SLK.
