Brand New or Pre-Owned?
« on: August 16, 2011, 11:22:43 am »
Hi Guys, I need some enlightenment with regards to buying a Brand New Car or just a good pre-owned one.

I'm thinking of my budget, if I can sustain/maintain the payment for 60months (5 Years) of 11-12K/mo.

I currently drive a Corolla XL 96.. which needs some necessary maintenance and parts replacements here and  there. That's why I decided that it's my time for me to upgrade. She served me well for almost 5-6 years already.

I was reckoning of trading her in or selling her first then buy a new one - a choice of Chevy Aveo or Hyundai Accent both base models (so it's cheaper, since I'm also considering my budget.)

Then today, I thought of why not just trade her in and buy a pre-owned car (but preferably SUV - for diesel, coz I drive a lot, considering my fuel consumption) and have it bank financed and maybe pay it for a year or two.

If pre-owned, do you guys know any reliable dealer/shop with bank financing schemes?

Guys I really need your advice/suggestion on this. TIA.  :)

I prefer brand new para less headache but if you're considering your pocket, go for a pre-owned one but be ready with the minor issues :)

In reference from my previous experience, it is preferable to purchase brand new vehicles w/ 3 to 5 years warranty.  No problem at all in exceptions to change oil as per manufactures recommendation.
No problem if it is Korean cars, it all depends on how the owner use.

It depends on your budget..

For me, I'll just save enough money for a brand new one!

hi yensan,

we all have our share of history as far as owning a pre-loved  car. probably the major concerns would be a) as a new driver owning a 2nd hand good running vehicle is a wise choice ( so when your empirical driving gives you the bump, scratch and any in between it would not be excruciating to do the fix) b) finance; this will be a major balk that will turn you off iN purchasing a brand new vehicle. HOWEVER, with the current stiff competition in car sales, dealerships have been very abundant in offering PROMOS AND LOW DP'S ( this is more evident in outgoing models). HENCE a buyer like you sensitive to how much he/she will be spending for a brand new car is put in a good situation to choose from any of the BRANDS whether it's japanese  or korean. IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING i strongly recommend  A BRAND NEW VEHICLE FOR YOU.
 1. you already have experienced a second hand ride
 2. there are lot's of available BRAND NEW CARS THAT WILL SURELY FIT your above-mentioned BUDGET OF 12K A MONTH.
IN DOING SO HERE ARE SOME IN  MY SHORT LIST OF RECOMMENDATION
vis a vis;

1.FORD FIESTA M/T : LOW DOWN IS AT 99K MONTHLY FOR 60MONTHS ROUGHLY AT 14K OR
20% DP 139000 60 MONTHS NMI OF 12491 PER BPI AUTO LOAN CALCULATOR
2. SUZUKI CELERIO@ 20% DP OF 103600 60 MONTHS NMI OF 9310 PER BPI AUTO LOAN CALCULATOR
3. HONDA CITY @ 20% DP OF 138000 60 MONTHS NMI OF 12419 PER BPI AUTO LOAN CALCULATOR.

NOW YOU HAVE A CHOICE BETWEEN A 1.6, 1.0, AND 1.3 ENGINES RESPECTIVELY.

HAPPY BUYING AND UPDATE AS OF YOUR DECISION

P.S. if you are budget constrained don't go for SUV (be it 2nd hand or brandnew) the parts of SUV ARE RELATIVELY HIGHER THAN CARS. fuel consumption is also compromise no matter how efficient the engines are due to the HEFTY BUILT OF SUVs
