6TH ANNIVERSARY ISSUE (SEPTEMBER 2010):
WE GO RAMEN-HUNTING WITH THE MITSUBISHI ASX
There's no special theme this month. That's because we're celebrating our sixth anniversary with the September issue. That's right: We've published 67 issues since the very first one came out in September 2004. And we're marking the important milestone with an ultra-fun package.
Leading the car lineup is the new Mitsubishi ASX compact crossover, which we selfishly used to hunt for the best ramen in town. Read Brian Afuang's funny take on the parallelisms between ramen and the ASX-with an actual rating of five ramen restaurants to boot.
Next on the list is our exclusive look at the new Toyota Alphard, which is sure to change the way you perceive vans. Even more compelling is our story on the Icon CJ3B, a California-made modern rendition of the classic Willys CJ-3B that makes use of a steel body stamped by a Filipino company.
For the techies among you, we dedicate this month's Top Read article, 'The 20 Best Motoring Apps For The iPhone'. If you have an iPhone or an iPad and profess to be a true car enthusiast, here are the killer apps you need to have on your gadget. They will help you liven up the party (and meet the coolest chick in the room). In Road Trip, meanwhile, we drive the Subaru Legacy sedan around Cebu to celebrate the brand's official arrival in the Queen City of the south.
Cars driven for this issue include the Porsche Panamera Turbo, the Ford Fiesta sedan, the Hyundai Grand Starex Limousine, and the Nissan X-Trail. Best of all, we make the Hyundai Sonata slug it out with the Toyota Camry and the Mazda 6 in The Big Test.
Speaking of Porsche, 911 lovers will go crazy over our story on the new 911 GT2 RS. We also have a very helpful "Porsche 911 Deconfuserizer," a compact guide to the various differences among all 911 variants. Even Jeremy Clarkson's column is devoted to the great Porsche 911.
For motorsports fans out there, we have a must-read Top Gear exclusive in this issue: McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton, who currently leads the championship standings, drives Ayrton Senna's legendary McLaren-Honda MP4/4. Also, we have a profile on the racetrack king of the Philippines, Johnny Tan, who owns the Batangas Racing Circuit, the Carmona Race Track, and the new Clark International Speedway.
Finally, the issue comes with the fourth series of Trump Cars, which we guarantee to be tucked inside the magazine (something we bungled last month when we decided to place the card pack inside the magazine instead of attaching it on the cover).
Read these stories and so much more in the September 2010 issue of Top Gear Philippines, still selling for P150 at your favorite bookshops, magazine stands, convenience stores, fuel stations, and car-accessories shops.
