SUV Crew
Screw you!
Do you drive a Honda CR-V? You've got to meet the SUV Crew then

SUV Crew is a merry mix of Honda CR-V owners. It is not a hip-hop group, even if its name sounds like that of one. SUV Crew, or Screw, is one of the seven subgroups housed by Honda Club Philippines (HCP). Its members are Honda SUV owners and most of them—aside from having gangsta potential—have at least one CR-V.
They get together on the second week of every month and they usually have track days. Likewise, their participation in the grand meetings of HCP is encouraged so they'd get to know more of the guys—and gals—from the six other subgroups of their big family. More importantly, they get to discover the most leisurely ways of enjoying their rides as a club.
SUV Crew was founded by Reuben Pierre Morante and is currently headed by Jino Boler and Allan Jamarillo. Allan, despite his hectic schedule as an officer of a bank's fraud and chargeback unit (oooohh), found time to make this photo shoot some kind of a celebration for the club. Meanwhile, vice president for marketing Bong Hernandez provides the kind of professionalism that has made HCP's website forum quite a success. It now has roughly 10,300 online members and boasts over 1.5 million posts. That is a lot by any standard.
And SUV Crew members know better than to steal off-roading glamour from a different club. But if only to ascertain the all-around capabilities of their rides, they'd consider a little practice here and there to be beneficial.
Who would have thought that recovering a stranded vehicle was like a walk in the park? For the SUV Crew, it actually was. However unlikely, a CR-V apparently fell into a ditch during this photo-shoot gathering. There seemed to be Boy Scouts among them, as they made a towing belt handy. Taguig policemen were nearby and gave moral support, but the Screw guys did not solicit their help.
The point is, the SUV Crew are down for whatever. Which is why it attracts professionals from provinces as far as Isabela, which is in Northern Luzon. Need convincing? Optometrist Michael Tan—or Doc Mike, as the club fondly calls him—traveled roughly 350 kilometers from home for this Top Gear pictorial. As for his honest-to-goodness reason for driving that far, he declared: "Well, the CR-V is an awesome ride."
Which pretty much sums up the club's reason for being.
