Adding another workhorse in its commercial vehicle lineup, Foton Philippines launches a new product segment, the Foton Gratour Series, composed of the best-selling Gratour minivan and the newly introduced Gratour Midi Truck.

“Since the Foton Gratour minivan was highly embraced by the Filipinos because of its quality, convenience and affordability at once, the automaker designed a new product variant, the Foton Gratour Midi Truck, which will fully empower another potential market—the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs),” said Foton Philippines President Rommel Sytin.

However, as the MSMEs and emerging businesses continue to flourish in the industry, the demand of commercial vehicles utilized to transport goods and operate logistics also mounts. And despite the current economic growth, there are still inconveniences that seem to hinder progress.

First are heavy traffic jams, with the increasing number of congested roads not only in the metro but also in the provinces. Another is the altering cost of fuel. These pressing issues apply especially to vehicles that power businesses.

“I am proud to say that the Foton Gratour Midi Truck is ready and well-equipped for these setbacks,” exclaimed President Sytin.

Sytin added, “In preparation for the declaration of the ‘truck ban’ on EDSA and other crowded roads due to the heavy traffic, we present the Gratour Midi Trucks to MSMEs who aim to have faster deliveries while transporting goods in more convenient ways.” With a maximum length of 4480 mm, the Gratour Midi Truck only occupies the space of an AUV.

Talking about its engine, the Foton Gratour Midi Truck draws it from a 1206 cc, 1.2-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine that is already Euro 5 compliant, therefore meeting the government’s call for reduced emissions.

In terms of power, it is tuned to produce 85hp at 6000rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4000-4400 rpm. The motor is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, riding on 14” wheels. The Gratour Midi Truck can carry load weighing up to 1.2 tons.

The Gratour also features several body configurations such as the Dropside, F-Van, Wing Van, MPV, Jeepney and Patrol Jeep. Highlighting the product line’s promotion of low cost ownership, Foton is offering a three-year or 100,000 km warranty on the Gratour Midi Truck.

“Since we provide the market with a vehicle capable of withstanding the toughest of conditions, we believe that the Gratour Midi Truck will also be a way to maximize the potential of businesses, big and small, through its multifunctional offerings under the price within reach,” noted Mr. Sytin.

The Foton Gratour Midi Truck will be first seen in this year’s Manila International Auto Show on March 30 to April 2, 2017 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. Also in show for the first time is the all-new Foton Tornado C 2.2 along with other passenger vehicles, light duty trucks, heavy duty trucks and heavy machinery of the car and truck brand.

FOTON is known as Asia’s largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles including passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks and heavy machineries. For inquiries, call (02) 459-2121 or 0999-9999998. You may also visit www.foton.com.ph or www.facebook.com/FOTONPhilippines.
