Electric cars? They’re pretty commonplace now in the movie industry—nowhere near as commonplace as their internal combustion counterparts, but they’re definitely there. One fine example is the Audi E-Tron that makes a cameo in Avengers: Endgame.
We haven’t seen an EV in a prominent starring role yet, though. Something along the lines of the DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future franchise, or the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters. But we’re certain it will break through into Hollywood sooner rather than later.
For now, we guess we’ll settle for this. Money.co.uk has reimagined several of the biggest cars in film as electric vehicles. The results are pretty neat if you ask us.
The A-Team’s GMC Vandura, for example, now sports a rear charging port and an aesthetic that looks like something you’d see out of a Tesla design room. The Volkswagen Beetle from Herbie? It has a cleaner look and some neat glowing wheels. Other cars like the DeLorean time machine, the Ecto-1, and James Bond’s iconic Aston Martin DB5 retain their classic appearances, but get charging ports and subtle illumination instead.
These designs might be timely, considering Hollywood’s current obsession with remakes and reboots of old-school hits. What say you? Should these movies, if remade, feature electric cars instead? Let us know in the comments.
