I'm very meticulous when it comes to my car's cleanliness. It's just an economy car but I like keeping it spotless all the time. For me, the physical state of a car is a reflection of its owner's personality. Which is why I make it a point to get a car wash regularly. (I'd love to do it myself but I simply don't have the place to do it.) Going to a car-wash shop is like therapy to me--like going to a spa to get a massage. Which is to say it's something I like doing if my schedule permits.
The problem is that my schedule doesn't always permit. There are times when I don't even have an hour to drive to a car-wash shop, wait in line and have my hatchback washed. Thankfully, my challenging situation seems to have been addressed now. I was recently approached by Spray N' Go, a company that sells waterless car-cleaning products, and asked to give its car-care service a try. Yes, they offer car-cleaning services, too, in case you really can't be pried away from your work desk. They do home-service wash and wax by appointment, as long as you live in Pasig, Bonifacio Global City, Ortigas Center, Libis, Katipunan, Marcos Highway, Cainta, Taytay, Angono and Binangonan.
I told them I live in a condo and that I park my car in the basement of our office building, which is right next to my dwelling place. No problem, they said, especially since my location is Mandaluyong, just within the scope of the areas they currently serve. No less than Kristina Ceñal, the bubbly owner of Spray N' Go, showed up to present her business to me. She brought along her aunt, who helps her in this start-up, and one worker. Usually, she said, they dispatch two workers so that the job is accomplished faster.
Kristina thought of a car-wash business when her mother put up a laundry shop. She brilliantly planned to recycle the water that was used to wash clothes at her mom's laundry. But even this brilliant idea had its own obstacles, prompting the former JPMorgan Chase employee to think of another business concept. Well, what about a "car-wash service" that eliminates the need for water altogether?
And so Spray N' Go Waterless Car Wash and Quick Detailing was born. Kristina hooked up with a supplier that formulates a special line of "100% environment-friendly, biodegradable and rain-repellant" car-cleaning products. Right now, these products include the Car Wash and Quick Detailer; the Glass Cleaner; the Rim and Tire Cleaner; and the Microfiber Towel. The detailer sells for P175 for the 100mL handy kit, and P500 for the 500mL spray bottle. The glass cleaner retails for P165 for the handy kit and P400 for the spray bottle. And the tire cleaner goes for P170 for the handy kit and P450 for the spray bottle. The microfiber towel costs P150 each.
If you don't want to do the cleaning yourself, you may avail of their service for P250 for a small car, P300 for a medium-size car, P350 for a large vehicle and P400 for an extra large vehicle. If you can find four other car owners in your place who also wish to have their vehicles cleaned, Spray N' Go has a promo that gives one free wash-and-wax service for every four paying customers. Perfect for officemates before heading out to a Friday-night party.
Truth be told, I was initially skeptical about a waterless "car wash" because, well, how do you wash something without using water? I agreed to have my car serviced really just out of curiosity. When Kristina saw my car--really dirty at the time but it wasn't obvious because of its silver color--she told me, "You should have brought a filthy black car," as if implying that my dust-covered hatchback wasn't challenging enough.
Before starting, Kristina weighed each bottle of the cleaning products, just to show me later on how little it would take to spruce up my car's exterior. She also took note of the exact time her worker commenced the job, which was 3:30pm. The worker didn't even dust off my car--he went right ahead and applied the cleaning products on the sheet metal. I watched and felt it was too easy. I could do this while playing Candy Crush Saga, I thought.
Indeed, the worker finished at 4:17pm. Just 47 minutes and my car looked like it had undergone a proper car wash, including the engine bay. Of course, I probably would have taken much longer if I had done it myself. But with constant practice, I see no problem completing the chore in half an hour eventually.
Only 11mL of the detailer was used, to go along with 4mL each of the glass cleaner and the tire cleaner. Pretty economical (and eco-friendly), I think.
Well, let's just say I'm a believer now. A waterless "car wash" is indeed possible. The service is ideal for extremely busy people. Like, ahem, myself. If you're one such individual who just doesn't have the spare time to pamper his car, you might want to check out the products and services of Spray N' Go. You may e-mail them at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call them at (0918) 985-6658 or (0922) 854-7432.
Don't forget to gather four of your friends (and their cars) before calling.
