Top Gear Philippines

One look at the highly competitive Philippine compact sedan landscape and one thing is immediately apparent: when it comes to this segment, the Japanese definitely know what they're doing. Hell, this is probably an understatement.

The Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Mitsubishi Lancer and Toyota Altis are four of the most popular compact sedans in the country. The Civic is all-new and is our reigning Stig Awards Car of the Year and Reader's Favorite, while both the Altis and Mazda 3 have recently undergone updates. The Lancer is the oldest of the bunch, but remains a well-known model in the segment. So yeah, each one has a lot going for it.

Understandably, this might just be our tightest spec-sheet comparison to date. We can only imagine how challenging it must be to choose which one to spend your hard-earned money on, although you're probably choosing a winner regardless of what you go with. But which one is the best spec-wise?

As usual, we've produced the pair of infographics below to help out potential car buyers. Remember: a well-informed decision is never the wrong one. If you or anyone you know is on the hunt for a new compact sedan, be sure to check out or share this story.
