  • Boy Kambyo says Toyota and Honda are good, but open your mind my fellow Filipinos. Just because Toyota had a basketball team way back and just because Honda has more aftermarket parts readily available doesn't mean there aren't any other good brands in the limited Philippine market. (July 16, 2009 08:57:33 pm)
  • yasaki says gooooo yamaha!!! (July 21, 2009 05:14:07 am)
  • Josef Puechner says BOY KAMBYO! THANK YOU! Finally someone out there thinks the way I do, Toyota and Honda have the Filipino's wrapped around their finger's into thinking that's all there is available. People need to realize they are buyer THEIR car, they need to play an active role in scouting brands, reading the specs of cars, doing test drives, not just be dictated by neighbors or latest fads/"uso" in the market. Like going down the street there's like a thousand fortuners, innova's, civics, altis, vios, and that's what I can't stand, there's no individualit here, people buy what everyone else has, frankly because everyone else has it NO because they chose it through their own hard work of searching. • bestos says for me the coolest brand to ever enter country is the company called 'SUBARU' (July 24, 2009 09:25:56 pm)
  • Vonbek Lopez says Toyota and Honda are the top selling icon car in Philippines. These two icon cars are affordable and cool. Also saves more gas than other vehicles...and their parts and accessories are durable and affordable too. (July 26, 2009 01:32:20 pm)
  • Rey says There are other good or if not better brands out there. However, you have to face the reality that only 'the few' could afford brands such as Mercedez, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. The middle class tends to purchase cars that they could save (in terms of fuel and parts)..Nissan and Mitsubishi also offers a handful of good cars but owners' experiences (quality, service or even reselling)made them to shift and purchase a Toyota or Honda..The reality is that Toyota is the world's market leader aside from the fuel efficiency, affordable price, wide selection of cars, and parts availability...Honda is up there because it retains its image of prestige and high quality (aspirations - Maslows heirarchy of needs)...Nevertheless, the German made cars are on top of my purchase list.. • Leonardo M. Rodaje says Toyota and Honda are all the same having two sets of standards and performance specs of their products. I guess, it is high time that we should be vigilant in correcting this double standard mentality of these Japs maker. Up to now, specifications standards set for the Philippines, thailand and viet Nam is still much much lower than the one set for the U.S. market and even much lower than ME and south african markets. • Voksy says You maybe all correct but the fact is consumers wil always be the ultimate to decide! Toyota? I once owner of ALTIS but to my dismay during after sales service a damn poor one so I tried MAZDA3 which seems better than the previous one. HONDA for one thing sales people tend to be arrogant that they think they are the best in the industry! Instead I choose other brand in exchange to HONDA. See how the consumers react even on small things! Try specs comparison before buying one that's my good advice! (August 07, 2009 09:57:04 am)
  • evilwez says ..then what brand will you suggest that is better than these two? (September 10, 2009 08:25:23 am)
  • cj says Our family trusts the Mitsubishi brand.. no complains about their sales staff and service, very puntual... i agree with fellow Voksy here about Honda sales staff arrogance, plus they take too long to service your car... masyadong bilib sa produkto... (September 30, 2009 11:16:22 pm)
  • turbo tony says It appears the local psyche is inclined to buy a new Toyota or Honda as they are perceived to depreciate least (?). Looking at used car ads, I'm not convinced about that. In any event, my buying criteria also requires a reasonable product knowledge and a customer friendly attitude, neither of which I've encountered with HONDA at several of their outlets. Being a member of the AYALA Group is not a licence for rudeness. (October 03, 2009 08:35:49 am)
  • norman says I agree with most of here say. there are other brands out there. a lot! check the specs! maghanap kyo wag tatamad tamad! (October 04, 2009 02:25:23 pm)
  • Triggerman says Well guys, now wonder why the sales persons of Honda are arrogant. It is a fact that from HCPI (Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.) with the exception of a few good fellows - down to the dealership level, being arrogant and rude is their way of life... (October 13, 2009 07:30:43 pm)
  • Norman says I forgot, i also own a mitsubishi & i have no complaints about their service. thanks to everyone at mitsubishi otis for keeping my car in tiptop shape. And oh, does anyone know about the camry having accidents because its accelarator getting stucked in the floor with the matting? Not just the camry other models of lexus also which is under toyota too. (October 17, 2009 06:06:46 am)
  • geezer says The title of this article is not pertaining to the coolest or the best brands.. It's 'motorists most trusted brands'.. When you trust something, its not necessary for it to be cool or the best.. Every brand have its own strength and weaknesses, which makes them imperfect.. The survey's result is not implying that you don't have to trust other brands. Just so happened that those two topped the list coz the consumers who participated thought so. So after all the rants and raves, it all boils down to one thing... To each his own.. ;p (October 20, 2009 05:32:06 pm)
  • jacko says here in cebu, isuzu has better customer service compared to toyota (October 23, 2009 10:50:12 pm)
  • R8 says I think Toyota is one of the top choices , because of it being dominant on the local market. But for me there are better choices like german, and american cars(Audi, BMW, and Ford)sadly only few can afford to buy these kinds of cars. (November 06, 2009 05:18:59 pm)
  • tsuper says i own a honda before and i found the engine is very reliable only staff needs overhauling.honda must send their staff to customer care classes.thats why i sell my honda. (December 28, 2009 06:44:34 pm)
  • Roland says The painful truth is that most writers about cars have unwitting bias for Toyota, Honda or Mitsubishi. They heap praises for these cars while either make critical criticism or simply not writing about the good things of cars of other brands. Readers are unconsciously influenced by these writings in buying or selecting cars, without realizing that each car has its own weakness or strength. (December 30, 2009 01:36:01 pm)
  • botchifan says after the ondoy flood, i don't think Toyota is that reliable anymore (January 01, 2010 01:34:34 pm)
