  • Boy Kambyo says Toyota and Honda are good, but open your mind my fellow Filipinos. Just because Toyota had a basketball team way back and just because Honda has more aftermarket parts readily available doesn't mean there aren't any other good brands in the limited Philippine market. (16 July 2009)
  • yasaki says gooooo yamaha!!! (21 July 2009)
  • Josef Puechner says BOY KAMBYO! THANK YOU! Finally someone out there thinks the way I do, Toyota and Honda have the Filipino's wrapped around their finger's into thinking that's all there is available. People need to realize they are buyer THEIR car, they need to play an active role in scouting brands, reading the specs of cars, doing test drives, not just be dictated by neighbors or latest fads/"uso" in the market. Like going down the street there's like a thousand fortuners, innova's, civics, altis, vios, and that's what I can't stand, there's no individualit here, people buy what everyone else has, frankly because everyone else has it NO because they chose it through their own hard work of searching. (21 July 2009)
  • bestos says for me the coolest brand to ever enter country is the company called 'SUBARU' (24 July 2009)
  • Vonbek Lopez says Toyota and Honda are the top selling icon car in Philippines. These two icon cars are affordable and cool. Also saves more gas than other vehicles...and their parts and accessories are durable and affordable too. (26 July 2009)
  • Rey says There are other good or if not better brands out there. However, you have to face the reality that only 'the few' could afford brands such as Mercedez, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. The middle class tends to purchase cars that they could save (in terms of fuel and parts)..Nissan and Mitsubishi also offers a handful of good cars but owners' experiences (quality, service or even reselling)made them to shift and purchase a Toyota or Honda..The reality is that Toyota is the world's market leader aside from the fuel efficiency, affordable price, wide selection of cars, and parts availability...Honda is up there because it retains its image of prestige and high quality (aspirations - Maslows heirarchy of needs)...Nevertheless, the German made cars are on top of my purchase list.. (26 July 2009)
  • Leonardo M. Rodaje says Toyota and Honda are all the same having two sets of standards and performance specs of their products. I guess, it is high time that we should be vigilant in correcting this double standard mentality of these Japs maker. Up to now, specifications standards set for the Philippines, thailand and viet Nam is still much much lower than the one set for the U.S. market and even much lower than ME and south african markets. (02 August 2009)
  • Voksy says You maybe all correct but the fact is consumers wil always be the ultimate to decide! Toyota? I once owner of ALTIS but to my dismay during after sales service a damn poor one so I tried MAZDA3 which seems better than the previous one. HONDA for one thing sales people tend to be arrogant that they think they are the best in the industry! Instead I choose other brand in exchange to HONDA. See how the consumers react even on small things! Try specs comparison before buying one that's my good advice! (07 August 2009)
  • evilwez says ..then what brand will you suggest that is better than these two? (10 September 2009)
  • cj says Our family trusts the Mitsubishi brand.. no complains about their sales staff and service, very puntual... i agree with fellow Voksy here about Honda sales staff arrogance, plus they take too long to service your car... masyadong bilib sa produkto... (30 September 2009)
  • turbo tony says It appears the local psyche is inclined to buy a new Toyota or Honda as they are perceived to depreciate least (?). Looking at used car ads, I'm not convinced about that. In any event, my buying criteria also requires a reasonable product knowledge and a customer friendly attitude, neither of which I've encountered with HONDA at several of their outlets. Being a member of the AYALA Group is not a licence for rudeness. (03 October 2009)
  • norman says I agree with most of here say. there are other brands out there. a lot! check the specs! maghanap kyo wag tatamad tamad! (04 October 2009)
  • Triggerman says Well guys, now wonder why the sales persons of Honda are arrogant. It is a fact that from HCPI (Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.) with the exception of a few good fellows - down to the dealership level, being arrogant and rude is their way of life... (13 October 2009)
  • Norman says I forgot, i also own a mitsubishi & i have no complaints about their service. thanks to everyone at mitsubishi otis for keeping my car in tiptop shape. And oh, does anyone know about the camry having accidents because its accelarator getting stucked in the floor with the matting? Not just the camry other models of lexus also which is under toyota too. (17 October 2009)
  • geezer says The title of this article is not pertaining to the coolest or the best brands.. It's 'motorists most trusted brands'.. When you trust something, its not necessary for it to be cool or the best.. Every brand have its own strength and weaknesses, which makes them imperfect.. The survey's result is not implying that you don't have to trust other brands. Just so happened that those two topped the list coz the consumers who participated thought so. So after all the rants and raves, it all boils down to one thing... To each his own.. ;p (20 October 2009)
  • jacko says here in cebu, isuzu has better customer service compared to toyota (23 October 2009)
  • R8 says I think Toyota is one of the top choices , because of it being dominant on the local market. But for me there are better choices like german, and american cars(Audi, BMW, and Ford)sadly only few can afford to buy these kinds of cars. (06 November 2009)
  • tsuper says i own a honda before and i found the engine is very reliable only staff needs overhauling.honda must send their staff to customer care classes.thats why i sell my honda. (28 December 2009)
  • Roland says The painful truth is that most writers about cars have unwitting bias for Toyota, Honda or Mitsubishi. They heap praises for these cars while either make critical criticism or simply not writing about the good things of cars of other brands. Readers are unconsciously influenced by these writings in buying or selecting cars, without realizing that each car has its own weakness or strength. (30 December 2009)
  • botchifan says after the ondoy flood, i don't think Toyota is that reliable anymore (01 January 2010)
  • winx says we own a civic & i agree that these two are not the only brands w/c are reliable. there are other brands that are good if not better. toyota & honda are the brands w/c is "subok na" or trusted from experienced. bmw and other high end cars, who can buy them but only a few. these two brands are popular in the middle class. everyone has its opinion & thats good. u buy cars not for the after sales service or the staff, u buy them because u want it. (20 January 2010)
  • Natedog says Toyota is the best. I have Toyota Revo going for 9 years now and I dont have any major issues yet. (27 January 2010)
  • chadee says Motorists' most trusted brands?? i think its not the right term.... think of this, if BMW sells a brand new car at the price of a vios j? What would you get? the vios j or the BMW?? (28 January 2010)
  • mustang_ina1228 says Nothing beats the arrogance of HONDA staffs!!! (08 February 2010)
  • suv says i don't think so mustang_ina1228 about your impression of Honda staff, they've been good to me and we still keep in touch after the purchase, maybe you are the problem and people just reciprocates... (14 February 2010)
  • BM says I remember botchi's segment, right car - wrong car, the sales agent of honda flirting endlessly with his client, wahahahaha! he even said, if I am not wrong - the freebies he can only offer is maybe they can eat together at jolibee, waaah! (20 February 2010)
  • eric says yup, when buying car here in the phillipines we only have two brands to choose on...and that is honda or toyota. for SUV toyota fortuner is great and for sadan go for honda civic.....satisfaction guaranteed from pulling power to riding comfort and safety. (20 February 2010)
  • CL says @eric ur right @BM nabasa ko rin un nakakahiya naman un..... (22 February 2010)
  • arville says I dont think these two brand are the trusted car in our country. Its just dat they hit the needs of our fellowmen, specially the price part (and aftersales price), availability and gasoline consumption. Yes, thats true we have lots of brand available in the market which is way better than these two. I have nothing against these 2, bec our 1st car is Toyota Corolla and the last one is Honda Civic. We are always looking for more that time.. Which we found in our late Ford Granada. (28 February 2010)
  • AuiBoy says PARA SA AKIN SARAO MOTORS AT MALAGUENA ANG NO.1 HAHAHA!!!THIS ONLY SHOWS WALA MAIMBENTO PINOY NA MATINO AT UTAK IMPORTED TAYO...SORRY TO SAY THIS GUYS MOST OF US DONT REALIZE IT OR WE HAVE NO CHOICE!!!HAPPY READING (06 March 2010)
  • cesar Castelo says Sadly, Toyota's reputation has been tarnished around the world now after it had recalled almost 9 million vehicles and counting. And unfortunately, some of these supposedly fixed vehicles are still zooming dangerously in the american freeways. We tend to believe Toyotas were made as if they were molded by God's hands. Toyota is offering 0% up to 72 months plus thousands in cash back and free maintenance for 2 years but their sales still fell by 9% in Feb. 2010 in the U.S. inspite of every other brand sales went up. Americans buy over a million brand new cars every month so that is a huge impact for Toyota. I hope Toyota will bounce back but for now, consumers worldwide tend to stay away from this brand. Our country is a very small market so the Toyota controversies worldwide will not even matter here and I do believe we'll stick with Toyota's no matter what. (11 March 2010)
  • Lee17 says to be completely honest, I lost a little trust from Toyota after the entire fiasco they're having in the states. I couldn't look at them in the same light as I did before. (12 March 2010)
  • borikyo says >>>botchifan (12 March 2010)
  • borikyo says to BOTCHIFAN, BITTER! you better see the video of "Killing a Toyota" (12 March 2010)
  • MaLdiTo says if you think guys that toyota was in no.1 spot it means trusted na talaga.naging no.1 sila kasi yung model nila na ALTIS at INNOVA pang TAXI at PUV lang yan kaya dami bumili kasi pang commute lang di bagay pang personal service.infairnes nmn sa honda matibay talaga sila but in the long run magastos ang servicing nila lalo na ngayon sa kanilang latest honda civic. (18 March 2010)
  • Dr. Edwin Y. Gantuangco says I agree to both of you Voksy & Roland. The problem with most Filipinos, except for few, is that we know only 4 brands - Honda, Toyota, Isuzu & Mitsubishi. Why? Because they don't research much or at least inquire from different users how other brands perform before buying one. Sorry to say but some of the buyers are shall I say "not so experienced." I have personally tried 6 brands, including these 4 major players but to my dismay I won't buy the latter (4) again. The worst "after sales" here in Davao are Toyota and Isuzu...never again. (03 April 2010)
  • Juan Miguel Mendoza says kapal mo MaldiTo ikaw at yung mga kamag anak mo may 1 time sumakay din na Taxi na toyota. (10 May 2010)
  • James says @Maldito-Kahit naman tangalin mo taxi dami pading private na nag dridrive ng altis at innova at advansa. (30 May 2010)
  • dtkiko says Our family trust Isuzu products (2 DMax's model 2004 and 2008 and 1 Crosswind model 2001 for personal use, and a fleet of 20-tonner trucks for business). And, i would mind owning an Isuzu DMax or an Alterra again, just waiting for the arrival of the Super-Platinum series here in Philippines, the one with the 3-litre 4JJ1-TCX DDi-iTEQ with VVGS engine. (07 June 2010)
  • dtkiko says Our family trust Isuzu products (2 DMax's model 2004 and 2008 and 1 Crosswind model 2001 for personal use, and a fleet of 20-tonner trucks for business). And, i wouldn't mind owning another Isuzu DMax again or an Alterra for a change, just waiting for the arrival of the Super-Platinum series here in Philippines, the one with the 3-litre 4JJ1-TCX DDi-iTEQ with VVGS engine. • Kit Mallorca says Our family car is a 1996 Mitsubishi Lancer EL. Even it's old, we still love it because the engine condition is still great, even it was destroyed 8 years ago during my father's death and nearly caused the car to blast after he was gunned and pressed the gas hardly, but luckily it was in neutral. The suspensions and brakes are still ok, even fuel efficiency are still maintained. That's one reason why I love and trust Mitsubishi cars. I trusted them also because of its nice specs, positive test results around the globe, durability, advancements in technology, their experiences in racing which involves performance and endurance and their experiences as the 1st Japanese car manufacturer since 1917.
