Challenge time: Name two Korean car brands as fast as you can.

Done? Okay, there's a good chance that SsangYong wasn't one of the brands that immediately popped to mind. At least locally, it doesn't quite have the name recall that Hyundai and Kia do. Maybe because it's a comparative latecomer, or that its lineup isn't as expansive as the other two. Whatever the reasons, maybe it's time the public paid a bit more attention to its vehicles.

Take the Rodius, for example. We recently had the chance to drive the 2.0-liter, nine-seater variant for a few days to put it to the test. Overall, we found it to be pretty capable for the cost. While its styling inside and out will elicit a "meh" from a lot of people, it still does the job where it counts. It offers light handling behind the wheel, a touchscreen monitor with Bluetooth capabilities (which some expensive Korean cars have never heard of), and a plush ride. Not bad for a van priced just under P1.5 million.

If you want to know more about the Rodius, then check out our review in the link above. Remember, there's more than one (or two) Korean brands in town.
