No, what you're looking at aren't concept sketches from the new Star Wars flick. Contrary to all the hype since The Last Jedi trailer broke cover, there's more than one intergalactic film franchise worth taking note of: Star Trek.

The photos below are Budget Direct car insurance's automotive interpretations of the Star Trek saga's most popular ships, and they might just be cool enough to make car guys set aside their Star Wars fandom (or biases), at least for the moment.

In these images you'll see a handful of rendered starships (carships?), headlined by the classic USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) and the USS Voyager NCC-74656. With the latter's pair of warp engines and iconic looks, it is undoubtedly the most popular of the bunch. Budget Direct says this model is suited for both on-road and off-road performance, though it's difficult to see how it will hit light speed considering its horribly low ground clearance. The NCC-74656, meanwhile, packs a ton of advanced sensor equipment for space exploration.

You'll also come across several alien ships, the most prominent of which being the Romulan D'Deridex Class Warbird and the Klingon Bird of Prey. The former is equipped with both offensive and defensive pulse weaponry, while the latter can evade enemy patrols thanks to cloaking technology and extreme propulsion.

You can check out all of the ship/cars in the images below. Are these designs worthy of taking on the final frontier? What do you think?
