Go to gasoline stations along SLEX on a Sunday morning and you will see sports cars and supercars lined up. The owners are all meeting up, and when the pack is complete, they blast up to Tagaytay and have breakfast in fancy establishments. It's actually a great way to relieve stress--to remember that good cars are meant to be driven and not be stuck in traffic.
We all need a breather, but not all of us can afford a fun little automobile that brings out the endorphins. The subcompact category, the most popular segment in our market because of its price range, has dependable models, but they don't really get the blood pumping.
Well, not if Mazda has anything to say about that.
We recently took the new Mazda 2 around the back roads of Laguna, and this convinced us that excitement and value can coexist in subcompact form. The spunky little hatch and sedan made noises and moved in ways that made us forget the pressure of the daily grind. The 2 asks for your involvement in the driving process, and rewards you with satisfaction you may have forgotten while commuting in regular cars.
Despite our non-professional talking skills, we made a video that we hope will convey the joy of motoring with a fun car. If you do get a chance to try out the Mazda 2, we say go for it.
