The German brand is on a quest for dominance

Volkswagen Philippines may have just performed the biggest industry mic drop of 2018. The German marque just unveiled five new vehicles to be unleashed onto our market. We've already told you about the Santana--the 1.4-liter manual subcompact that's set to combat the Toyota Vios and Honda City with its P686,000 price tag. Now we're going to show you the other newcomers.

The Lavida, which is the best-selling sedan in China, is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission, and is capable of 89hp and 225Nm. That will sell for P1,171,000.

The new Tiguan, meanwhile, boasts features like leather seats, cruise control, a sunroof, and push-button start for a P1,648,000 price tag. The Santana GTS is the wagon version of the manual sedan. It sports a bigger 1.5-liter engine paired to a six-speed 'auto box. No official price has been issued yet, though Volkswagen told us that they're trying to get it down to under P1 million. Lastly, the luxurious Lamando gets a 1.4-liter TSI with BlueMotion Techhnology and a seven-speed DSG.

"These newest car models are the latest expressions of the Volkswagen tradition of world-class, superior German craftsmanship passed on from generation to generation. They represent the kind of craftsmanship, engineering, and design that Volkswagen is known for--and that has endeared Volkswagen to Filipinos as one of the premier European automotive brands in the country," said Ayala Corporation president and CEO Fernando Zobel de Ayala
