Ferrari F40 built for ex-Chrysler boss up for sale

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Ferrari F40 built for ex-Chrysler boss up for sale

The Ferrari F40 is an icon not only because its creation marks the 40th anniversary of Ferrari as a carmaker but also because it was the last model to be signed off by the man behind the brand, Enzo Ferrari. This specific unit, however, is arguably even more special as it was owned by another legend in the automotive industry--former Chrysler chief executive and chairman Lee Iacocca.

According to auction house RM Auctions, which is bidding off the F40 at its annual Arizona auction, this particular model is the 94th of the only 213 United States-specification F40. The car comes complete with extensive documentation confirming the former ownership of Iacocca. Among these documents are the Ferrari Certificate of Origin dated October 12, 1990, a US Environmental Protection Agency letter, Italian export paperwork, an engraved "Built Especially for Lee Iacocca" card, the Owner's Warranty and Service Book, the warranty card and one piece of personal correspondence.

If the connection between two iconic figures in the automotive industry still isn't enough to convince you to buy the car, then perhaps this bit of information will: the car reportedly has covered less than 300 miles (roughly 483 kilometers) since it was bought by Iacocca and "is still unregistered and listed on its Manufacturer's Statement of Origin."

"A genuine 'blue chip' investment-quality exotic automobile, this 1991 F40 will certainly continue to top the Ferrari collector's wish list for many years to come," RM Auction said in a statement.

Richard Hammond and Mr. Clarkson really loves this car. This is what they call the best Ferrari ever.
They don't care if its windows are manually opened. They even don't care if it doesn't have floor carpets. This is the most honest Ferrari, light, nimble and powerful. If driving is all that you fancy, this is the car for you.
