2010 Hyundai Santa Fe hits Philippine showrooms

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe unveiled in the Philippines 

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., the Philippines' fourth largest car distributor in terms of sales, has released the refreshed and upgraded Hyundai Santa Fe in the local market.

The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, a midsize crossover sport-utility vehicle, gets a much-needed facelift, evident with its more aggressive front fascia thanks to the chrome-lined, three-slatted body-colored radiator grille and the new front fog lamp housings in the new front bumper.

Out back, the predominantly red taillights have been replaced by a red-and-white affair while the muffler tips are now angular, replacing the old oval pair. Also new are the rear bumpers, the five-spoke split alloy wheels and the streamlined roof rail.

Four-wheel-drive variants of the Hyundai Santa Fe also get supple all-black leather seats, dual zone full-auto airconditioning system with a new ionizer to help eliminate bad odors in the cabin.

The Hyundai Santa Fe variants sold in the Philippines come with the 2.2-liter CRDi R eVGT diesel engine that churns out 194hp and over 436Nm of torque and the 2.4-liter Theta II gasoline-fed powerplant that produces 171hp and almost 226Nm of torque.

The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe variants come with a premium audio and video package that's fitted with a 5.1Ch DVD system, Bluetooth wireless system, an SD card reader, auxiliary input, and an iPod cable.

The Santa Fe also gets an all-new six-speed automatic transmission that's both compact and lightweight to promote fuel efficiency. 

The 2.2-liter CRDi R eVGT Hyundai Santa Fe goes for P1.558 million while the 2.4-liter petrol variant is at P1.468 million.

But Hyundai said with their eVGT equipt engine, they will most likely produce a very efficient fuel consumption.. but added more power and torque on it and likewise it's curbweight power to weight ratio is predictable, not so heavy.. so more or less maybe.. Pero more power and torque means more fuel needed to burn?... Let's wait and see.. But the thing is, ang MAMAHAL ng product ng Hyundais!! :)) mine is a MS.. fuel efficient talaga mura pa :D peace!!   • hopeless says Fuel efficiency? It's common sense (ooops, di nga pala common ang common sense). The new Hyundai Santa Fe has a much lower displacement(2.2L) compared to the top of the line Toyota Fortuner(3.0L), lalo na sa Mitsubishi Montero Sport(3.2L). So when idle or when in traffic, the engine with a lower displacement naturally consumes lesser fuel. But why the new Santa Fe has much more power? Because of the technology used to it (CRDi and a turbocharger). Probably, the new Santa Fe would consume more fuel when you are maximizing its power capability. Fuel is needed in power generation, right? But when you don't need that too much power, the engine would not consume like what a 3.0 engine does. I'm not pro-Hyundai or any other brand. I'm just enlightening some of you who are willing to learn and be corrected sometimes. (30 March 2010)

Brand loyalty could be based on several factors based on customers perception, but brand reliability, again, IMHO is based on hard facts. I could easily go Korean but what stops me from doing so is when the manufacturers ask premium prices from models (i30, Veracruz) on which price could be put at a more competitive range (read: affordable) than their target market. If we find them expensive, we can opt for their other line-up (i.e. i10, getz,Tucson, Santa Fe) Of course, most of us here are all on a budget when buying a car, but sometimes it becomes unfair to demand a lower price for a car that's really loaded with features and has a latest technology engine.
