2010 Hyundai Santa Fe hits Philippine showrooms

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe unveiled in the Philippines

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., the Philippines' fourth largest car distributor in terms of sales, has released the refreshed and upgraded Hyundai Santa Fe in the local market.

The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, a midsize crossover sport-utility vehicle, gets a much-needed facelift, evident with its more aggressive front fascia thanks to the chrome-lined, three-slatted body-colored radiator grille and the new front fog lamp housings in the new front bumper.

Out back, the predominantly red taillights have been replaced by a red-and-white affair while the muffler tips are now angular, replacing the old oval pair. Also new are the rear bumpers, the five-spoke split alloy wheels and the streamlined roof rail.

Four-wheel-drive variants of the Hyundai Santa Fe also get supple all-black leather seats, dual zone full-auto airconditioning system with a new ionizer to help eliminate bad odors in the cabin.

The Hyundai Santa Fe variants sold in the Philippines come with the 2.2-liter CRDi R eVGT diesel engine that churns out 194hp and over 436Nm of torque and the 2.4-liter Theta II gasoline-fed powerplant that produces 171hp and almost 226Nm of torque.

The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe variants come with a premium audio and video package that's fitted with a 5.1Ch DVD system, Bluetooth wireless system, an SD card reader, auxiliary input, and an iPod cable.

The Santa Fe also gets an all-new six-speed automatic transmission that's both compact and lightweight to promote fuel efficiency.

The 2.2-liter CRDi R eVGT Hyundai Santa Fe goes for P1.558 million while the 2.4-liter petrol variant is at P1.468 million.

Kia already released the 2.2 CRDi eVGT engines for the Sorento. Though they are claiming that its much more stronger than the Santa Fe (unless di alam ng sales rep about the new Santa Fe).

Kailan naman kaya yung Tucson CRDi.. hehe!

Maganda kasi ang quality ng Hyundai products over sa Montero Sport na talagang too spartan at cheap ang quality!Para ka ding may Strada!Mag Santa Fe nalang kayo!Hmm wag mong idamay ang Murano rito,at least mas mabenta to kaysa sa Veracruz!

@banana, montero sport is also available in russia, australia and latin america mitsubishi is developing a new clean diesel(210HP 400++ NM) for its montero sport but no dates of release as of now...by the way with this choice of engines the santa fe is still a better value-for-money choice against the new sorento

  • Rem Apr 14 2010 @ 08:28am
@Juan Miguel Mendoza, THANK YOU!!! haha. tamang tama paluwas kami baka next week. Kaya lang parang anlayo ata sa puputahan namin. Dun nga sa Marquee Mall sa Pampanga 5,000++ ang alam ko pinaka mura nilang 1:18 3,400. Last year pa nung nag field trip kami. Sa tignin niyo, Hyundai R eVGT vs. Isuzu Ddi-iTEQ . ano kaya mas maganda? Ako Isuzu pa rin ako.

Nung naghahanap kami ng Mid-size SUV, 4 things stood out for the Santa Fe: 2.2L diesel engine, multi-link rear suspension, 6-speed H-matic transmission and 194(!!)hp.

The Fortuner is like a lamp post, you can pretty much see it in every corner. Plus, it has a legendary stiff ride.

The Montero is just like a Fortuner, everybody has one. Its NVH is also very high and the interior is drab.

The Kia Sorento has a very handsome face, but asking P200K more than its brother, the Santa Fe, is absurd.

    The Captiva is a Chevrolet.

It went down to the LE Ford Everest and Hyundai Santa Fe. The Everest is cheaper but is down in transmission, power, still has a truck-like ride and an old model with a new face.

In the end, we went with the Santa Fe 2.2L ReVGT 2WD variant and I enjoy every moment of it. The power is addictive. I always smile when I overtake Fortuners, Montys and Everests in STAR. The standard GPS is very helpful. The ride and interior is luxurious. And the exterior. We got the brown metallic and I just can't help staring at it.
