The first model available in the Philippines equipped with Honda's "Earth Dreams Technology"--the ninth-generation Honda Accord--has been launched and is now sold in two variants: the 2.4 S priced at P1,720,000, and the 3.5 SV at P2,097,000.
"The New Year is the best time to introduce Honda's flagship model, the Accord," said Honda Cars Philippines president and general manager Tatsuya Natsume.
The 2.4-liter, DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder model boasts 173hp and 226Nm, and comes with a five-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The 3.5 SV variant, meanwhile, is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that features Honda's variable cylinder management. The V6 is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission also with paddle shifters, and can produce 277hp and 339Nm, making it the most powerful Accord since the car's inception in 1976.
Both variants are equipped with the Eco Assist system, which comprises the Econ mode and the Eco coaching ambient light. The Econ mode controls the engine, the drive-by-wire throttle, the transmission, and the A/C performance, thus improving fuel consumption. The Eco coaching ambient light, on the other hand, informs the driver how "green" his/her driving performance is: It turns green when the throttle input is light, and turns white when the throttle input is heavy.
In the name of safety, the midsize sedan, which is lighter and smaller compared to its predecessor, has features that give drivers and passengers peace of mind. The all-new Accord comes with a multi-view reverse camera that can display images in three views (normal, wide or top down), as well as front and rear proximity sensors. Its active cornering lights provide additional automatic lighting when the driver activates the indicators or turns the steering wheel more than 90 degrees. The Emergency Stop Signal automatically pulsates the brake and hazard lights when the car senses an emergency stop. It is also equipped with driver and passenger airbags, side airbags (and additional curtain airbags for the 3.5 SV), ABS+EBD, vehicle stability assist, and hill-start assist.
Inside, the Accord's seats are leather. Its front seats are power-adjustable, and the 3.5 SV variant has a two-position memory for the driver's seat, so readjustments need not be frequent.
Other features include:
* Push-start button
* Smart key with a push-start system that locks and unlocks the doors
* Full-color 8-inch screen
* Multi-information display
The all-new Accord is available in the following body colors:
* Modern Steel Metallic
* White Orchid Pearl (additional P20,000)
* Crystal Black Pearl
* Carnelian Red Pearl
* Alabaster Silver Metallic (2.4 S variant only)
