PGA Cars yesterday launched the face-lifted Audi R8 at its Bonifacio Global City showroom. The R8 sports car now has a sharper look, thanks to the restructured LED headlamps and taillamps. Other features that have been tweaked on the exterior are the single-frame grille with tapered corners at the top, the redesigned diffuser, and the large, round tailpipes. The 19-inch alloy wheels get some new designs, too.
The price of this revised R8 is P12.5 million.
Improvements under the skin include the seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission, which now has launch control for better traction off the line. The power of the V8 engine--which has 430hp and 430Nm of torque--is delivered to the road via the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system with a rear-axle bias. The standard sprint times have improved by 0.3sec. According to Audi: \"In combination with the seven-speed S-tronic, the R8 accelerates from zero to 100kph in 4.3sec on its way to a top speed of 300kph. Use of ultra-lightweight construction technology in the updated R8 V8 results in less overall weight.\" With the space frame, it tips the scales at a scant 1,560kg.
Lito Jose, Audi Philippines sales director, said: \"With every product improvement, every model will be lighter and lighter. And with the lightweight technology and the new transmission, there\'s more usable power.\" He also said that once the V10 variant is available, PGA Cars will also be bringing it in.
After the launch, attendees were invited to watch the premiere of The Wolverine at SM Aura. No spoilers here, but the protagonists of the highly anticipated flick drive around in light and nimble Audis. How cool is that?
