Mazda reveals all-new 3 hatchback

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Mazda reveals all-new 3 hatchback

Mazda has revealed its latest model which will carry the Japanese carmaker's "Kodo, Soul of Motion" design language. We're talking about the all-new 3 hatchback.

As the third model in Mazda's lineup to adopt both the new design theme and the company's full suite of Skyactiv technologies, the sporty compact hatchback "will redefine driving pleasure" when it is launched globally, starting with the North American market later this year.

Taking Mazda's "jinba-ittai" credo of oneness between the car and its driver, the all-new 3 hatch will introduce a new car connectivity system "that broadens the scope of that driving experience."

The system supposedly features a new interface designed with the highest priority placed on driving safety. A wide range of Mazda's i-ActivSense advanced active safety technologies will also aid the driver in recognizing and avoiding road hazards. These include a high-beam control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning system, forward obstruction warning, radar cruise control, and smart city brake support.

The global engine lineup for the all-new Mazda 3 hatchback includes a newly developed1.5-liter Skyactiv gasolineengine in addition to the 2.0- and 2.5-liter mills and2.2-liter clean diesel powerplant. A hybrid electric sedan version will also be made available but only for Mazda's home country.

According to Mazda, the engine lineup will be optimized for each market "to meet the diverse needs of a wide variety of customers around the world."

When do you think local Mazda distributor Berjaya Auto Philippineswill bring this in?

Now this way better than what we currently have. Its up to Mazda Phil. to price it right for this to sell like hotcakes.

the most handsome car in its segment even compared to the incoming toyota altis. The only problem with mazda is the pricing. It wants to go head to head with its japanese and korean rivals but its price is just kinda nearing the premium segment. Konti nalang may subaru impreza ka na. Just a thought:)

In fact, the top-of-the-line Mazda3's SRP is about the same as the Impreza, assuming no discounts. The challenge now is for Berjaya to price this at the level of the Civic/Altis.

I think Berjaya will stop its current Mazda 3 by early next year and upgrade to this new one. But at the end of the days, it will depend on which country will supply the left hand drive Mazda for the PHL market.

Just this May, a base model Mazda3 was launched @ 899K.
      • foolishofficer Jun 28 2013 @ 08:50am
It is the Mazda 3 Maxx. However with still a lame 1.6L engine, uncompetitive pricing and this announcement. This Mazda 3 model (not just the Maxx) will be limited edition in the country. I like the current Mazda 3 design pa naman.

Blame Ford for the price sabotage before handing Mazda to Berjaya. :)
  • Mr. McMahon Jun 27 2013 @ 10:06pm
Euro 2 pa rin ung Emission ng Mazda
  • rev0215 Jun 27 2013 @ 10:38pm

It is worth waiting. Probably a comparo with the Ford Focus hatch in the near future would be great.
  • aargh Jun 28 2013 @ 08:55am
Huwag naman sana after 4 years saka nila ilabas to dito...
    • codenamejanrei Jun 28 2013 @ 11:50am
Berjaya is now the distributor of Mazda, so it won't take that long. We'll probably have this next year.
  • jmchrstphr Jun 28 2013 @ 09:25am
    This one's a stunner! :D
  • ttej123 Jun 28 2013 @ 10:04am

  • codenamejanrei Jun 28 2013 @ 11:47am
Mazda never disappoints everyone with every car they launch. This is by far the most beautiful compact car, especially with those features. And thank goodness Berjaya is now the distributor here. :) We hope they release it here soon. Good job Mazda! Looks really luxurious! :D
  • capt.tanker Jun 28 2013 @ 02:55pm
Will see the pricing if ever brought here. Will it turn us ON or OFF.
  • leodawesome Jun 28 2013 @ 03:54pm
Just like the 6, I think these babies will be brought here faster :)
  • Fritsche Jun 28 2013 @ 05:00pm
It's either they only had enough money to pay one designer for the front and back ends across all models... or the company is taking this corporate identity thing a bit too seriously.

whatever the reason.. it does look pretty good on the 3.
At least now we know what the new 2 will look like..
  • camebeyond Jun 28 2013 @ 06:47pm
I think mazda do a great job here. If they price it right, this model will outsale even toyota altis.

  • chongky Jun 28 2013 @ 08:23pm
i hope it wont be expensive like the rest of cars they bring here but i doubt it
  • GotToRead Jun 28 2013 @ 09:07pm
This is simply the best in its segment both in design and technology. Compacts are already light vehicles but Mazda have managed to shred 200 lbs! Imagine the efficiency of this vehicle! Price this just right, I'm guessing...the top trim priced same as the Civic and they have a winner!
  • aventador Jun 29 2013 @ 10:08pm
    ganda!
  • dzeimz16 Jul 01 2013 @ 12:32am
I hope Berjaya's boss can read this.

Please bring in a manual transmission variant! That way the car can drive as good as it looks.
