Toyota has finally revealed the all-new Corolla in the United States, and with the car's dramatically styled, sleeker and more dynamic look, the Japanese carmaker believes the new model "will change consumer perceptions of this iconic compact."
The Corolla builds on the design of the Corolla Furia Concept, which Toyota unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January. With its more advanced and modern-looking design, longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs, the new Corolla now sports an athletic stance. Helping to accentuate the design even further are the more pronounced flared wheel arches and the sloping roofline that blends into a short rear deck.
Inside, the passenger cabin features a clean, horizontally oriented dashboard that enhances the feeling of spaciousness. Piano-black surfaces, metallic accents and decorative pinstripes help elevate the compact-car experience even further. Attention to detail is also demonstrated in the ornamental stitching spanning the length of the dash panel and the shift boot that adorns the shifter lever.
The all-new Corolla comes with a 1.8-liter engine that, depending on the variant, comes with either Valvematic technology to produce 140hp, or Intelligent Variable Valve Timing to churn out 132hp. Transmission choices are limited to either a six-speed manual or a newly developed CVT, with the premium S variant offering a manual-mode shift gate in the console shifter and steering-wheel paddle shifters to "allow drivers to affect fast, sequential shifts through seven-speeds." Drive modes that also offer recalibrated throttle, transmission and steering responses are available on some of the variants.
While we doubt some of the features in the US-market Corolla will be offered here, you might be interested to know what these are:

"The 2014 Corolla will elevate the consumer's experience for the world’s most popular sedan with modern, expressive styling, a more premium interior experience, improved fuel economy and performance, and a strong menu of available features," Toyota said in its statement.
