CATS Motors, the exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz and Chysler/Dodge/Jeep in the Philippines, has been awfully quiet lately. Well, we may have found out why: It is launching the Jeep Cherokee at the 2014 Philippine International Motor Show next month.
According to our source from CATS Motors, the Jeep Cherokee variant that will be brought in is the trail-rated Cherokee Trailhawk. In Jeep-speak, trail-rated means the vehicle underwent a series of tests to "prove its off-road capability on some of the toughest trails on the planet."
Additional proofs that the Cherokee Trailhawk is capable of going off the beaten path are its Selec-Terrain traction control and Selec-Speed systems, standard skid plates, and 56:1 crawl ratio.
For the available engine choices, we're told that the Cherokee Trailhawk will be made available locally with either a 2.4 in-line-four engine or a 3.2-liter V6, and with a nine-speed transmission.
So, will the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk be your next SUV?
