The Nissan GT-R is considered a modern day automotive icon. It’s the car that many aspire for, thanks in no small part to its stellar performance both on and off the track. So you kind of wonder how the Japanese carmaker will improve on such a success.
Apparently, it found a way. The 2017 GT-R has just spawned a new, more focused iteration in the guise of the Track Edition. You can tell that the Nismo-designed variant is a special model with the wider front bumper and Nismo Racing Black forged 20-inch aluminium wheels. Depending on the market, Track Edition buyers will get the GT-R Black Edition’s red and black Recaro seats and a carbon spoiler, with a carbon trunk lid and carbon-backed seats as optional extras. German clients, meanwhile, can opt for the carbon spoiler but receive the seats as standard.
Whichever market you purchase your GT-R from, the supercar comes fitted with Bilstein Damptronic suspension and lightweight anti-roll bars. The setup is designed to optimize straight-line performance as well as cornerning prowess. And that’s adding a lot to the already razor-sharp handling that this car exhibits. The unique model is finished off with a carbon trimmed logo on the dash, which lets the world know that you’re driving an extra special supercar.
Like all Nissan GT-Rs, the Track Edition is powered by a 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 putting out 570hp and 637Nm. The hand-built motor is put together by specially-trained Takumi craftsmen who lovingly ensure that technology and quality come together in perfect harmony. And that’s pretty much the beauty of this car. The Track Edition simply takes it to a whole new level.
