The new Toyota Yaris and Vios are now available in the Philippines. Toyota Motor Philippines held the launch for the two cars in Bonifacio Global City earlier today, providing would-be customers with more efficient engines and a few minor aesthetic upgrades.
Both models now come with Toyota's NR-series Dual VVT-i engines. The company claims that the upgrade provides the cars with better fuel economy and improved emissions figures. Another significant piece of hardware making it into the Yaris and Vios are the new continuously variable transmissions, giving them a superior sequential shift mode in contrast to the previous models' four-speed gearbox.
As we've stated in a previous story, the new 1.5-liter Dual VVT-i engine puts out 106hp and 140Nm, while the 1.3-liter mill is capable of 98hp and 123Nm.
Aesthetics-wise, the new Yaris's seat fabrics get a new look, as do the Vios's. The same goes for the audio head units, which now come with a new dark silver face. Meanwhile, the new Vios G variant's foglamps now sport a chrome trim, and the body can be had in two new colors: Alumina Jade Metallic and Blackish Red Mica. The Yaris still comes in the same shades.
