Limited to just 1,927 units, the First Edition XC90 will be individually numbered--with the number indicated on the tread plates--and have a distinctive badge on the tailgate. Piece of trivia: Volvo was founded in 1927, hence the number of units.
Available powerplant choices for the limited-edition model are the supercharged and turbocharged gasoline-powered T6, which is rated at 320hp and 400Nm, and the D5 twin-turbo diesel, which produces 225hp and 470Nm. Both engines will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Distinguishing the First Edition XC90 from the "standard" version are its Onyx Black finish and eight-spoke, 21-inch inscription wheels for its exterior, and Amber-colored nappa leather seats, charcoal leather dashboard and linear walnut inlays for its interior.
"Those who want to be among the first ones to own the best SUV in the world have to act fast," said Volvo senior vice president for marketing, sales and customer service Alain Visser. "The huge interest in the all-new XC90 indicates that the First Edition will sell out quickly."
The online store for ordering the First Edition XC90 will open on September 3 at 4pm Central European Time (10pm Philippine time). Mark your calendar if you're interested.
