E-Tap cards now in use on Cavitex

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - E-Tap cards now in use at Cavitex

The operator of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) has launched the E-Tap card, the first-ever prepaid card toll payment system in the Philippines.

According to the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), the E-Tap card is more convenient for motorists. Not only does it eliminate the need to look for small bills or loose change, but the faster turnaround time for paying the toll fee will also reduce the queuing time at the toll plazas. Furthermore, the card is transferable and is not dedicated to a specific vehicle unlike the current e-payment systems used by the operators of the North and South Luzon Expressways.

The E-Tap card is reportedly easy to reload and can be secured at a very reasonable price at the Cavitex toll plazas.

The E-Tap payment system is being used as a pilot program of the TRB to help it consider the appropriate interconnected e-payment scheme that can be used by the country's various tollways.

Mas ok pa rin e-Pass... but that's just for me.

problem ng epass, kelangan mo pang mag request for soa. @.@
      • walphie 11 months ago
I get my SOA via email monthly. I even get notifications for credit corrections (ex. refunds, manual overrides, etc)

You just have to inform them that you'd like to be enrolled. Isang email or tawag lang yun, the ePass people are very accommodating (as they well should, ang mahal na ng toll sa SLEX!) Just have your six digit account number ready, and the email addy where you'd like to get the SOAs

Wow, thanks. First step, find my six digit account number... (dumb me) now, where's my six digit account number? :)) LOL.

yes, mas ok talaga e-pass, wireless. e-tap, dami possible delays like finding / losing the card, stopping, rolling down your window, rolling UP your window, etc. many of our local drivers aren't skilled or smart enough to do everything in one smooth flow. bitin na solusyon.

Yup, hindi to seamless.

Basically, (1) Roll down windows, (2) stop, (3) tap card (find card if tinago mo pa/tinago pa upon entering the highway) then drive off. Dapat ung parang sa Japan at Hong Kong na ung tollway natin. Sa Hong Kong kasi at Japan, you don't even need to slow down/stop.

ah, sarap pakinggan.. err.. basahin.. :) Sana magkatotoo

IKR!!! CRAP! Ang st*p*d kaya ng innovation na to! PAURONG ITO EH! Hindi moving forward to the 21st Century! Convenience nga ang goal eh, tpos ang gus2 PATIGILIN TAYO plus BABA NG WINDOWS! X[

Dedicated to a specific vehicle ang e-pass/ec-tag/easy trip? Bakit kami nililipat lipat lang naman namin yun depende kung anong kotse gagamitin? Mas ok pa rin yung current. Walang hassle. :D
    • walphie 11 months ago
Haha! Officially, tied to a specific vehicle or two yung each tag... pero yes, pwede nga yan, as long as same vehicle class para di nakakadaya ng toll fee :D
  • jtl888 11 months ago
Just a Q, --> "transferable" meaning it can be used for class 3 vehicles?

prepaid? reloadable? saan ka mag papa reload? sa office nila? so ganun din, hassle pa. sana yung katulad na lang ng ETC sa japan kung gusto talaga ng automation, isipin nila, ETC partnered credit or debit cards o kaya with smartmoney or gcash e di pwede na mag paload kahit saan anytime.

kahit hindi nmn ganung ka convenient like japan hongkong or singapore atleast mababawasan ung time or manpower kumbaga exact toll na lang lagi hehe. cyempre hindi nmn sila mag upgrade ng system if wlang advantage. hehe.

i prefer epass, although it also has its flaws, pano kaya kung may double payment mangyayari, pano kung may over charging? may statement ba sya monthly?, kasi sa epass meron at pwede refund kung na over charge ka kasi may statement sya, and yung 64 pesos cavitex ay too steep, higit isang litro din yun, kaya umaalis ako ng madaling araw via c-5 extension lusot cavite na. that would be 64php plus 24 pesoscoastal is my total consumption already in pesos sa gas already.
  • gogogo 11 months ago
bat di na lang ginawang e-pass din? kung gagastos lang din naman pala para sa bagong sistema eh sana parang e-pass na lang din... kalokohan...
    • walphie 11 months ago
Now that NLEX and SLEX are using the same system components (reader, tagkits, etc), it was only a matter of time before the two became inter-operable. Pina-plantsa na nga yung plano, including extending EC tag to SCTEX and ePass to STAR, tapos eto namang si TRB, may pinapauso naman na bago. Haay.
