Finished Toyota 86 video by local filmmaker released

Toyota 86 video

Last month, we reported here that Toyota Motor Philippines had commissioned local filmmaker Sid Maderazo to produce a video of the then recently launched 86 sports car. At that time, we only had a half-minute teaser to show you.

Well, Toyota has formally released a collection of 86 videos shot and produced by Maderazo, which the company distributed during a media party thrown to celebrate its 24th anniversary. Below is our favorite of the above-mentioned videos. It features, among others, TMP president Michinobu Sugata (or a body double, because we couldn't really see his face) donning a race suit and having a go in one of the cars.

Watch the video and see a group of Filipino drifters--including Alex Perez and David Feliciano--show off the tarmac skills of the 86. Enjoy!

UPDATE: Sid Maderazo sent us the "director's cut, in all its HD goodness." So, we've changed the video below to said HD and complete version.

a little flaw I guess in the soundtrack you can here the engine starting at 1:22 right before he presses the start button.

The video is quite amazing and the opening scene is so awesome and best is the soundtrack makes the video even more awesome.

Also noticed what old-school-cars mentions. I know it could possibly be from the other cars but I would have thought he could have just overlayed the audio of the video to run at a lower level and superimposed a 2nd audio layer when the guy being filmed actually presses the start button. Hearing the engine that loud implies the vehicle being filmed is the car that is running. Just a nitpick.

Also, wondered why the faded zoom for the speedo and tach felt too long/like it froze. I know it has been done before in other shorts/films but something felt amiss in that scene.

    Overall still nice video. Cheers!

I'll be blunt here. It's lousy. So much time was wasted on useless drama. Filipinos film makers should learn a trick or two from Nino Karrota. Watch his work here http://vimeo.com/45170151 and be amazed. Thank me later.

More drifting and less posing. Take a journey to Baguio, taking Kennon Road and then....wait for it.... DRIFT!!! Do or die style :))

    masyadong dragging (pun intended).

The video is made FOR and WITH SPECIFIC requirements. I myself, do a lot of Videography and I appreciate the video. If you can make a better one, GO AND MAKE ONE.

this is the REAL DEAL of What 86 is. NOT ABOUT speed (if that is what 1st batch of buyers are thinking, YOU ARE COMPLETELY OBNOXIOUS for thinking about that), NOT ABOUT getting in the point B first, BUT the Purity! The TOSS-ABILITY (if there such a word). That is what the original AE86 about! Glad that Toyota made such a wonderful project in the form of 86.

Yeah there were some parts we can nitpick on but I think overall, it's a good video for 86. Would anyone know where the music was sourced?
