So, we got our test unit of the Ford Mustang GT today, powered by a neighborhood-disturbing 5.0-liter, 420hp V8 engine that rumbles angrily with a gentle stab of the throttle. As if the engine's bellow wasn't scandalous enough, Ford Group Philippines had to lend us a bright-red unit. Great. Now we can't drive without the whole of EDSA glaring at us.
Curious about the body colors available for the Philippine-spec'd Mustangs, we asked FGP's assistant vice president for marketing (passenger cars), Prudz Castillo, about the range of paint jobs they will offer for the 2013 Mustang once they launch it on July 18.
"The new Mustang will be available here in five colors," Castillo told us.
Those colors are Race Red (our test unit's color), Performance White, Sterling Gray, Deep Impact Blue, and Black. Asked why the color black didn't carry a glamorous, made-for-marketing name, Castillo said he had no idea, and that the body-color names were just supplied to them by Ford's main office in Dearborn, Michigan.
So, we made him an offer: We will ask TopGear.com.ph readers to come up with a cool-sounding name for the Mustang's black paint job, and FGP will have to use the best one (which we will choose with the help of FGP executives) in our market.
Any ideas as to what the Mustang black should be called? Post your suggestion on the comment box below. It might end up being printed on the next batch of Mustang brochures and flyers.
