Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is International Engine of the Year

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Ford’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine named as International Engine of the Year

Just weeks after Ford showed off the performance potential of the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine in its Focus compact car by claiming 16 world land speed records for its engine class, the small powerplant now has another feather in its cap by being named the 2012 International Engine of the Year.

"This is a fitting victory for a truly remarkable engine," said Dean Slavnich, co-chairman of the International Engine of the Year Awards and editor of Engine Technology International magazine. "For a three-cylinder to power a vehicle like the Ford Focus with such ease, proves that the future is very, very bright for the internal-combustion engine. Power, response and very good real-world fuel consumption figures are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this engine and what it offers drivers today."

Besides bagging the overall award, Ford's three-cylinder turbo engine also took home the trophies for the 'Best New Engine' and 'Sub 1.0-liter' categories.

Awesome engine technology! this could be a powerful small turbocharged engine and probably a GDI?

AND PHILIPPINES STILL DON'T LIKE IT!

-- I am deeply saddened by this scenario that the Focus is not accepted much here in this country, in which this technology is the one greatly needed by the country to economize on its use of fuel. Because Filipinos tend to go after cars which their neighbor has. :|

ANYWAY, This is is really a breakthrough! Nice one Ford!
Have a question though WHICH is MORE PRESTIGIOUS? The WARD's award giving body that awards Accent as a good engine? Or this INternational Engine of the Year?

Underrated lang talaga ang Ford sa Pinas, dominated kasi ng Japanese automakers eh pero I believe 1 day they'll breakthrough, lalo na yang Focus, lalo na yung 2012 na Focus grabe ang technology na applied!

Definitely I would agree sa sinabi mo GotToRead.. The new technology they put in the new upcoming ford focus is really impressive talaga.. It features like active park assist, active city stop and yung blind spot information system nila.. Ford put a lot of effort, time and new technology talaga in their upcoming focus.. I think kaya lang talaga hindi napapansin o napapapriotize satin dito sa pilipinas yung mga american and european made cars compare to the korean and japanese is brand is when it comes to maintenance and spare parts tama db?!
