Honda Cars Philippines brings in Japan-made Jazz

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Honda Philippines brings in Japan-made Jazz

The Civic isn't the only Honda that enjoyed the spotlight in the Philippine car market today. There's also buzz about the new Honda Jazz, which is now sourced from Japan. Honda's plant in Thailand--where the Philippines imports the hatchback--is on the road to recovery after a massive flood damaged its facility in 2011.

The Japan-made Honda Jazz Special Edition is different from its Thailand-assembled brethren in many ways. For starters, it comes with the new Fresh Lime exterior color. The changes are also evident inside as the car has steering-wheel-mounted controls for audio system and cruise control. Other additions to the Jazz's interior are the manually-adjustable headlight-leveling switch, the leather-wrapped steering wheel, integrated audio system with USB and auxiliary-in connectivity, the roof-mounted seatbelt for the middle second-row passenger seat, and an upper glovebox compartment linked to the air-conditioning system that's best for cooling beverages.

The Jazz Special Edition utilizes the same 1.5-liter engine and five-speed automatic transmission found in the range-topping Thailand-made V variant. It retails for P899,000. Interested?

Yeah, Very Interested. I like the looks, bagay sa teenagers like me but since its a Special edition, i understand the pricetag, unlike the New Civic's P1.074M pricetag.....

This CBU from Japan will be rare in the future and will command a higher resale value compared to its Thailand-made counterpart. Parang JDM na rin ito except LHD ito. Best buy na rin for Jazz / Fit lovers.

Seems like Honda is getting desperate. First, they'll launch a new, overpriced 1.8 Civic which looks like a facelifted model. The Cruze & the Elantra will both trump it in almost every department. Now, a 2009 Jazz will be offered here & pretend it's a 2012 model. But because it's Honda it will still sell somehow.

Sorry Honda... This is just a bit too pricey already for a Subcompact. The Jazz was already the most expensive subcompact but only around 30K (from Ford Fiesta S) so it was tolerable considering the versatility of this Car. But at 70-100k more? it's a bit too much. The added features such as Audio Controls on the steering wheel are already standard in most competitors in this category. Plus the 1.5 Jazz from Thailand which looks like the RS version from Japan looked a lot better coz of the Standard Bodykit. Not a fan of the Lime Green color. too girly for me.

as much as im trying really hard to comprehend how honda came up with the price tag of both the civic and the jazz my cerebral capabilities cannot help but say It's too much for a compact sedan and a hatch . with an over spill of new models in this category for 2012 honda will have a hard time selling big. the market is more discerning. consumers no longer live by the dictum of popularity. consumers now have understood there are available alternatives. i just hope honda will still have room to make necessary price adjustment.

Sounds good....impressive features and techies. But too expensive for a sub-compact hatch

Sobrang mahal na nito... Its not like the 90's na Honda only has to worry about Toyota. Ngayon may Ford na, Hyundai pa. And don't forget Kia...

Parang yung 1.3 na Jazz lang. Nilagyan lang ng fog lamps.
Pero mas gusto ko yan kesa dun sa 1.5 na made in Thailand, kasi mas simple.

An overpriced subcompact! But if they've called it Special Edition, I think people will still buy it. I remembered when HCPI released the Civic Mugen and to think it's production is limited, people still bought it.

I think mas overpriced ang Kia Soul 1.6 Liter LX (919K tapos isa lang ang airbag at walang ABS??!!!) at of course ang Suzuki SX4!

I saw one at SM Sta. Rosa last night. The first thing I noticed are the rear drum brakes, unlike the Thailand built Jazz with front and rear disc brakes.

I went to the Fort last Friday and checked out the new Civic and this Jazz. If you are a keen observer and familiar with the Thailand-made Jazz there is a very noticeable difference with the feel inside of the interior of the Japan-made unit. The plastics seems to have a different texture, looks solid and feels very durable. The knobs and switches feels more tight with the way they are fitted. Same also as when you open the glove box. The seats seem to be padded a little more and feels thicker than before.

not interested. just because the quality of thailand-made honda cars are inconsistent, honda had to bring in the japan-made cars. bringing japan-made cars is good, but the price doesn't justify the product nor the brand.
