Hyundai is really serious about its motorsports program since the Korean carmaker has recently inaugurated the headquarters of its European motorsports arm in Alzenau, Germany.
"I'm very proud to officially open Hyundai's new home of motorsports," said Hyundai Motorsport GmbH president Gyoo-Heon Choi. "Hyundai Motorsport acts as a performance engineering platform for the global business as well as a brand platform, helping to raise expectations and perceptions of the brand in a relevant and exciting way."
Although Hyundai Motorsport was only officially registered in December 2012, it has already been operational at the beginning of 2013, with 50 World Rally Championship specialists working on Hyundai's bid in the series for the 2014 season.
Measuring 8,200sqm, the building is within a 50km radius of the Hyundai European Technical and Design Center at Russelsheim and Hyundai Motor Europe in Offenbach. Later this year, Hyundai will open its vehicle test center at the Nurburgring.
"This is a historic day for Hyundai Motor Company," said Hyundai Motor Company executive vice president and chief operating officer Tak Uk Im. "Not only are we celebrating the opening of the new home of Hyundai Motorsport, but also demonstrating our commitment to improving the performance of all of our cars."
