Isuzu Philippines gets down to business with Crosswind XS

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Isuzu Philippines gets down to business with Crosswind XS

As if the 'utility' part in 'Asian Utility Vehicle' isn't clear enough for buyers of this type of vehicles, Isuzu Philippines is bringing to the market the even more utility-oriented Crosswind XS AUV.

Available exclusively in Glacial White, the Crosswind XS comes minus the third-row seat in the cargo area, freeing it up to carry more than 1.8 cubic meters (more than 1,800 liters) of payload. According to Isuzu Philippines, this configuration makes the Crosswind XS the ideal choice for business use as it can serve as a taxicab, service or delivery shuttle, or even as a courier vehicle that can carry balikbayan boxes and other oversized baggage. The Crosswind XS is also perfect for small families or those with young children as the cargo area can easily accommodate strollers, toys, extra clothes, groceries and other similar items.

Despite its utilitarian purpose, the Crosswind XS comes with modern features and conveniences like halogen projector headlamps, a shark-fin antenna, and air-conditioning system. The use of Isuzu's Flex Ride Move suspension in the rear also gives the Crosswind XS a more comfortable ride, while its proven 2.5-liter Euro 2-compliant turbo diesel engine that's mated to a five-speed manual transmission ensures power delivery to the rear wheels is constant and unyielding.

On top of the excellent resale value of Crosswind models as pointed out by Isuzu Philippines, its maintenance and running costs are reportedly just as excellent. The Japanese carmaker claims that it only needs P10,000 in maintenance costs for every 20,000km traveled as compared to around P15,000 for other brands. In addition, the Crosswind's fuel expenses can cost as low as P2.2 for every kilometer traveled as it boasts a fuel efficiency rating of up to 21.54km per liter as shown by the result of its 2010 Isuzu Challenge.

"Without question, the Isuzu Crosswind’s reliability, durability and fuel efficiency are keys to its popularity," said Isuzu Philippines president Ryoji Yamazaki. "But also among the vehicle's strengths is its capacity to continually evolve in order to be truly relevant to changing consumer needs. The 2012 Crosswind XS exemplifies this trait."

The Isuzu Crosswind XS is now available at all authorized Isuzu dealerships nationwide for only P750,000.

They boast about low maintenance, fuel efficiency etc etc. Never heard from them anything about safety? LOL Kamusta naman crash rating nitong car nito? Any airbags? ABS? Or other safety equipment?

last year may nagbanggaan head on.. maroon crosswind XTO vs. white hyundai porter FB.. yung porter wasak ang harap as in pumasok yung nguso ng crosswind sa loob ng porter.. hinila ng tow truck ang crosswind parang gasgas lang (yuping bumper at basag ang headlights).. at bukol lang sa ulo ang driver.. sa porter naluray ang binti ng driver plus dozens of wounds.. vehicle is totally wreck..
      • Allain May 16 2012 @ 04:09pm
Hahaha! Now who needs those airbags and ABS ek ek!
  • joab565 Apr 16 2012 @ 05:13pm
I doubt that there is a small family that will buy this vehicle. It's very bare. Maybe it doesn't have dual AC too. Its for business purposes only.

"Despite its utilitarian purpose, the Crosswind XS comes with modern features and conveniences like halogen projector headlamps, a shark-fin antenna, and air-conditioning system." Duh, almost every vehicle that rolls out of the showroom have these. They should have called it 'basic features and conveniences'.

I'm not saying that it's a bad vehicle though.

    • iskwakalogz Apr 16 2012 @ 11:09pm
kaya nga pang business diba.. it means less comfort.. imagine mo yung L300
      • joab565 Apr 17 2012 @ 09:12am
I know right. Kaya nga I-stated it in my comment na ' It's very bare. Maybe it doesn't have dual AC too. Its for business purposes only'
        • Allain May 16 2012 @ 04:13pm
ang ibig nyang sabihin guys na modern features ito.. it is because you cannot see this things sa mga TALYER made na AUV.
  • World Super Cars Apr 16 2012 @ 05:21pm
may kalaban na ang adventure GL
  • DePendot Apr 16 2012 @ 05:23pm
    • rarq23 Apr 16 2012 @ 06:14pm
1.3L gas engine for the Avanza vs. 2.5L diesel engine of the Crosswind.
  • hajabah Apr 16 2012 @ 06:36pm
I admire the Crosswind's utilitarian intentions, but when exactly did they start with the Flex-ride thingo? I rode in the third row of a Crosswind once, damn nearly slipped a disc. Not very comfortable, this car. but maybe that discomfort will translate into good payload, so that's good. :)
  • GTi Apr 16 2012 @ 06:56pm
They get a Crosswind XL and take off the rear seats and call it the Crosswind XS. Then they harp that it can carry lots of cargo with the absence of the 3rd row seats. How much space do the 3rd row seats occupy exactly? Oh well... Mas mura siguro if you get this one and then install the 3rd row seats yourself. ^0^

after the mitsubishi adventure TX, yung crosswind XS naman ang pumasok. count the Avanza J model as well (but it runs in a Gasoline engine). the former two vehicles run on diesel.

will the crosswind XS and adventure TX now disguised as taxicabs, makikipagkumpetisyon ba sila sa mga regular taxi cabs?

    Sana hindi smoke-belcher...
    • Feeter Silverster Apr 16 2012 @ 08:55pm
salglit lang at bubuga na agad yan ng maitim na usok, pero despite mausok, isuzu engines are very tough and dependable...
    • gogogo Apr 16 2012 @ 11:11pm
    • iskwakalogz Apr 16 2012 @ 11:15pm
marunong ba mag maintain si mamang driver?
  • dmaxred18 Apr 16 2012 @ 09:07pm
    Isuzu Crosswind IdoL!!!!
  • markdejesus76 Apr 16 2012 @ 10:09pm
Instead of upgrading their line-up and the current features of the cars they have, they do these. Kung inuupgrade din nila engine nila. Maging Euro 3 manlang
  • BOOGIECAT Apr 16 2012 @ 10:44pm
750K for this?No thanks..Mas okay ang Adventure TX at GX.
  • iskwakalogz Apr 16 2012 @ 11:21pm
750k? ayos na din for diesel AUV.. Plus the tough and reliability on Isuzu's name!
Ruggedness and dependability minus the comfort its a good choice for starting family and entrepreneurs..a very bis deal over the small cars in that price! nice job Isuzu!
    • joab565 Apr 17 2012 @ 09:22am
Earlier in my comment, you said it's for business purposes only kaya it means less comfort kasi less din ang features nya. And ngaun you will say its a good choice for starting family. They're better off with vios, city, rio, accent, mazda2, fiesta, avanza, suzuki apv, and compact suvs.
It's for business purposes only bro.
    • iskwakalogz Apr 17 2012 @ 11:41am

I have a business of transporting sacks of rice for wedding caterers. I think this Crosswind XS suits me well. At only 750k only with 2.5l turbodiesel engine, this is much affordable as compared to getting a flatbed truck. I wouldn't mind of extra creature comforts as long as this Crosswind delivers the goods!
  • neutral Apr 17 2012 @ 06:07am
Crosswind have done all the tricks to attract buyers. They have sportivo for the high end but only few are taking it. Now they have this low end as a counterpart of adventure and maybe consumers will buy it. Isuzu seems found the best direction because sportivo is too pricey for noisy and truck like engine and anemic as well. This is where you belong crosswind, go for it.

engine reliability between crosswind xs/adventure tx?almost d same lng cgro... pero isuzu has an edge kc TIMING GEARS of ISUZU never nids replacement... while timing belts need 2b replaced betwin 80k-100k kms... so lesser maintenance isuzu.. sa fuel efficiency lamang din isuzu kc pure direct injection versus indirect injection ng adventure... same lng sa mga toyota na timing belt din... 4 me tingin ko papatok i2 crosswind xs...

isuzu are well known sa diesel engine making at truck making.. forte nila mga diesel powered na vehicles..
