TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - It’s official! Peugeot is back in the Philippines

Peugeot has officially confirmed its Philippine comeback, and as reported earlier, it will be run by Columbian Motors, the same group behind BMW and Kia.

Columbian Motors' Pepito Alvarez met with Grégoire Olivier, executive vice president of Asia at PSA Peugeot Citroen, to formalize the re-launch of the Peugeot brand in the Philippines this July.

Peugeot is eyeing a two-percent share in the Philippine car market with an initial lineup involving the 3008, 5008, 508, 308CC and RCZ. The common denominator among the five vehicles? They are available mainly with Peugeot's micro-hybrid e-HDI diesel engine technology.

Does that option appeal to you as a buyer?

e hdi= start and stop system. nauna lang naintroduce ng bmw sa Pilipinas. the engine stops when the system detects that the vehicle is stationary.
    • vonschnipp Apr 20 2012 @ 09:13am
Useless in this country because the system deactivates when you use aircon.
      • mindkinetic Apr 21 2012 @ 06:02pm
not really , the engine only stops but continues to propel your airconditioning
        • vonschnipp Apr 21 2012 @ 07:01pm
No way. My brother has a BMW with start stop and he told me you have to choose: it's either aircon on or start stop, you can't have both. It's logical: your engine needs to turn to drive the compressor of the aircon If the engine is off, only the aircon fan will function.

OT (off topic) Euro 5 cars can come in a Euro 2 country. Euro 5 complies with all previous Euro emission restrictions.

diesel built by mitsubishi. kyoichi, make a comment on this issue...
    • robin_micmac Feb 28 2012 @ 05:58pm
not very sure about this one but PSA makes some of the best engines out there. They supply Ford with the TDCi engines under the Ford-PSA partnership. Same goes with BMW which buys engines from PSA for the Mini. Jaguar Land Rover also uses PSA engines on their diesel Jags, Evoques and Freelanders. I think the Mitsubishi Diesel Peugeot would be the rebadged Outlander but I'm not sure if the engine is Mitsubishi or Peugeot engine under the bonnet. Calling on Mitsu experts!
  • jayzeter19 Feb 28 2012 @ 05:34pm
    expect overpricing -_-
  • John Rigor Feb 28 2012 @ 08:10pm
The diesel engine in the 508 is more powerful than the mighty Hyundai 2.2L R eVGT engine! I hope they bring the 2.2L 204hp diesel.
  • iskwakalogz Feb 29 2012 @ 02:27pm
