Mazda 2 1.3 MT variant to arrive soon

Those pining for a manual transmission Mazda 2 hatchback are about to get their prayers answered as Mazda Philippines is now firming up plans to bring in the variant to the local market.

Mazda Philippines revealed it will soon introduce the 1.3-liter manual transmission-equipped Mazda 2 to complete the model's lineup in the country.

"We already have the top-of-the-line model, the 1.5-liter hatchback with automatic transmission, and then just below that there's the 1.5 sedan, which gets both a manual and an automatic transmission. The 1.3 hatchback with manual transmission will become our entry-level model so we'll have all the markets covered once we bring it in," said Mazda Philippines brand manager Prudz Castillo.

The all-new Mazda 2 arrived in the Philippine market in December 2009 and was officially launched in March.

    yari na ang jazz at yaris lalo na ang yaris kasi walang 1.3 na engine!! at sana meron din sana ilabas na AT at dpt mas mababa pa kesa sa vios at yaris! keep up the good work mazda!!

    If the 1.5 R(5 door AT) is 795K and the 1.5V(4 door MT) is 725K. I predict the price of the 1.3 MT to be less than 700K. Now thats some real competition to the Honda and Toyota offerings.
